A Memoir of my Team’s Journey creating Magic at HP from my eyes

This will be one unique monologue…

Over my 7 years at HP,

we built great products

we built great technology,

AND most importantly,

we built great relationships

AND This is for my HP friends, to relive the Experiences and the Magic we created together.?

More than any other company, HP is a People First Company and we experience it everyday….

So, here goes the story. The Story of Us!

2011 is my guess….......................................And long before I enter the story

5 HP Engineers thought of

“Managing PCs from the Cloud”

?

They quickly work out an initial architecture.

They codename it

Architecture is simple; 1 Ruby on Rails Server; 1 Windows App; WORKS!

Don't worry mates, this is the only architecture diagram, I will show in this blog.

They find allies in Brazil to help - bring their ideas to Life.

Our product to Manage PCs from the Cloud goes live in 2013 branded as

As the Product hits the road in 2014, Public Clouds and Micro-services become real.

We have a need.

A need to be Best-in-Class. A need to “Modernize Lighthouse”.

I enter the frame as an external partner, - serving modern software components to Lighthouse.

2014: Seeds of analytics are being sown in a module, Active Health - as part of the HP Support Assistant (in Customer Support).

HP-IT data center is now ancient with advent of public clouds and it doesn’t scale organically.

We partner to WIN!

We re-build analytics pipeline on AWS Public Cloud and scale Lighthouse on its back.

2014-15: Our analytics pipeline - conceptualized!

Devices collects Data, Data informs hardware Design, better Design equals better CX.

2017: Enter HP Device as a Service, our managed PC on lease program.

Analytics becomes KING!

Lighthouse merges and is codenamed “Magnum PI / Techpulse”

THE mission is so exciting! THE mission calls me.

I join my friends on THE mission – Full-time! Let's GO!

Software is now taken seriously in 2018;

With our 2 major victories under our belt, we have our own software org and site

We claim our first 2 homes in Personal Systems Software (PSSW) - Houston and Pune

We go into overdrive; we acquire allies to enhance our power (eq: Evanios Acquisition).

We gain in confidence,

We add more products under our purview – Omen Gaming, My HP, Fit Station.

By the end of 2018, we are the cool-kids in HP-Town!

AND we are delivering world-class products

AND we are serious business

?

AND we are growing

AND WE HAVE A BRAND!

We must organize better – for all this action.

We do Quarterly Product Architecture Meets – alternating between USA and India.

We build products, we build friends, we build memories.

WHEN WORK IS GOOD, LIFE IS BETTER!

We grow across ALL sites

We grow across ALL products

The growth of Month Active Customers and Devices is exhilarating!

The Show of the team scale up in back to back photos is exhilarating!

The usage is massive,

The scale is massive,

The data is massive,

The team is massive,

The responsibility is massive.

COVID hits the world hard;

Overnight, Many products don’t make sense anymore; we prioritize; we kill Programs

We are BIG, AND now, we must be LEAN; to survive; to grow.

HP Eagle and HP Palette never see the light of day! They never impress a customer!

HP is has survived many such shifts. We are HP. We have Resilience.

We prioritize; We focus; We inculcate the HP Way; The way that has thrived for nearly 90 years.

We can now only do 3 things ….. Let's select the Big ONES!

We bet on Software – Consumer Services, Omen Gaming and Yes! Workforce Solutions.

Enter “Workforce Solutions”?

COVID doesn’t stop us!

In PERSON and REMOTE.

In MASKS and ZOOM.

What problems do we solve, What customers do we target, What team do we need!

But, HP Workforce Solutions CANNOT win this ALONE.

Software Thought Leaders across HP MUST co-operate and come together.

We find allies across HP.

All co-operate! We partner to WIN!

We have few missions. For Our Workforce Solutions Team only 1.

AND We bring enterprise software across PCs and Printers, Peripherals and Cloud, Go To Market and Support to HP Workforce Solutions to find our new frontier.

Nov 2022 HP Workforce Solutions is born!

Post COVID, Productivity and Experience of a Hybrid Workforce is THE challenge at companies.

We center all our Software Efforts around the Workforce Experience Platform.

Gartner features our Platform as a VISIONARY in the first DEX MAGIC QUADRANT.

DEX is mainstream.

DEX has made it!

We have made it!

Its a story of Change, Its a story of Resilience, Its a story of Community. Its a story of Diversity. Its a story of creation of a category DEX. Its a story to push the edge to be Best in Class.
