Dear Forest Business Network Newsletter Reader:
There's an exciting new mass timber building set to open in 2025 and it's right here in my hometown of Missoula, Montana. This special place will honor a longtime partner and supporter of the mass timber industry, the USDA Forest Service .?
The National Museum of Forest Service History?and its National Conservation Legacy Center?is going to be a monument to not only the agency, but also to the mass timber and forest product industries that work in and around our nation's vast federal forests and the forest resource that comes off the land.?
While so many mass timber buildings are private commercial or multi-family with limited access, imagine a building — open to the public — that tells the mass timber story to 80,000–100,000 visitors every single year (and even more online).

Arnie Didier , Thomas W. , and I — as the principals at Forest Business Network — were excited and proud to support the new Center with a recent sponsorship of the museum's #masstimber kiosk. The digital kiosk will be situated in the building's lobby and explain how the Center came to be along with the mass timber products and other innovative wood products that have gone into the building and its displays. The kiosk's message will also be featured online.
If you'd also like to support the museum, you can do so in a couple different ways:?

Unlike traditional construction materials, timber is renewable, biodegradable, and boasts a significantly lower carbon footprint. Forests, when managed responsibly, can provide an endless supply of this versatile resource, promoting both environmental conservation and economic growth. timber's natural insulating properties enhance energy efficiency, reducing the need for excessive heating and cooling. Its aesthetic appeal and structural flexibility allow for innovative architectural designs that seamlessly blend with nature. Additionally, timber buildings can be constructed faster and often at a lower cost compared to steel and concrete alternatives. Investing in timber for urban development not only fosters healthier living environments but also contributes to the fight against climate change. Embracing this timeless material can pave the way for greener, more sustainable cities that prioritize the well-being of both people and the planet.
