Story time - Starting My First Business.

Story time - Starting My First Business.

The year was 2011.

The location was Kitwe…

I was seated in our office in the I.T department where I worked.

...I overheard my colleagues discussing the fact that the company was about to lay off some people.

They were not calling it that though.

It was called voluntary separation...

It's a nice way of saying we want to get rid of you but it will be much better if you can instead do the job for us..and we will pay you...

..lol…

For some people, the news was terrifying…

...not for me.

I was excited.

I thought: “I was already planning to quit my job and now someone is willing to pay me to do it? This is fantastic..”

“I will have capital to start a business...this is great!”

I felt ready...

So I did it...

My boss was reluctant to let me go though...

He only accepted after I agreed to consider going back after a while…

So, skwale...

That was the beginning of the entrepreneur journey...

Long story short, I didn't go back.

That was 10 years ago...

As you can imagine, I have learned a lot in the last decade.

The most important is this: knowledge makes all the difference in business.

Without it, you will struggle.

It can be like trying to cut a tree using a knife….because you are not aware that there is an axe and even better, a chainsaw.

For the next 10 days I will be sharing a part of my 10 year journey…

What I learned, some experiences I had and some mistakes I made and what I wish I knew earlier.

Tomorrow, I will share a FREE PDF that summarizes what I believe every new business owner

should know and how lack of knowledge cost me dearly in the early days.

On day 6, we will talk about dealing with difficult customers...you know, the ones who can literally make your life a living hell and you just want to run away but you stay because you need the money...

On day 7, you will get another PDF download you might find helpful…

Every new post will be posted at 6PM GMT +2 everyday.

If you sign up, you will get them via email too.

Additional details in the comments.

P.S. Should you quit your job to start a business like I did?

I have compiled a list of 21 questions to ask yourself before you make such a decision.
