The Story of IT Talent Academy: How I became a Teaching Recruiter
Can you believe it takes just 3 months to become an IT Recruiter nowadays?
I'm looking at our current recruitment course students and I must say, I'm impressed! Do things move faster and smoother for them these days?
When I started my IT recruitment career back in 2014, it was a different story.
We had to learn everything the old-fashioned way, relying on books from Amazon. No joke!
To be honest, I had to read a book titled 'TECHNOLOGY MADE SIMPLE FOR THE TECHNICAL RECRUITER' not once, but two or three times. The first time, I had to keep a dictionary handy. It was quite a challenge!"
But I managed to do it! I was genuinely concerned about appearing foolish in front of my candidates and clients. The FEAR of asking questions and saying something unintelligent haunted me. Sound familiar?
So, I delved into books and articles, and cautiously posed questions to my candidates. It took me YEARS to transform into a confident IT recruiter who truly "gets it."
Could I have ever imagined it would be possible to achieve this in just 3 MONTHS? Absolutely not! There were no suitable programs available for IT recruiters back then. I would have spared no expense if such a program had existed, all to save time and become as skilled as possible.
Later, as I began to expand the team of IT recruiters at IT Talent, I encountered a new CHALLENGE. My team members belonged to a younger generation. Reading books felt like torture to them! We were inundated with job orders from clients, and I had to educate them as swiftly as possible while upholding IT Talent's quality standards.
So, I began the quest for an effective methodology to simplify complex concepts. In addition, we needed to devise a strategy to ensure that knowledge stuck with the learner, readily accessible at their fingertips. Achieving this demanded a genuine commitment from the student, along with relentless PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

"LEARN AND SHARE" swiftly emerged as the agency's foremost core value. "Learning Mondays" became our cherished tradition. Each Monday, one of the team members would deliver a presentation on a programming language, technology, or an IT role.
Ah, those were the good old days! Our team continued to embrace learning and sharing, integrating gamification into the process, and most importantly, having a blast along the way.
This approach played a pivotal role in propelling IT Talent agency to new heights. It enabled us to secure our position as the leading recruitment agency in Estonia, sandwiched between two major job boards: CV Keskus and CV Online!
I can say with pride that the most accomplished professionals in the recruitment industry have been CULTIVATED within the IT Talent team, much like nurturing offspring.
Over the years, I've successfully honed the most effective METHODOLOGY for instructing recruiters in sourcing and technical competence. This methodology accelerates learning, encourages extensive practice, ensures that knowledge becomes second nature, and incorporates gamification. After all, learning should be an enjoyable endeavor, shouldn't it?

And I suddenly realised that turns out teaching is my SUPER POWER. And I have to keep sharing the knowledge and help the market foster the new generation of GREAT RECRUITERS to make sure the IT companies are empowered with recruiters who UNDERSTAND, CARE & SHARE.
That is how IT TALENT ACADEMY was born in 2021. ??????
