The story that was never told.

Recently, a video of my son, Adi, went viral.
In it, he was discussing his coding project with his friends, and it was shared all over social media, sparking conversations in various forums.
People were amazed to see a 10-year-old coding and using AI with confidence.
The media was quick to pick up on the story, but here’s the thing: none of the newspapers that published it bothered to dig deeper.
None of the newspapers bothered to learn more about the video, We even wrote to a few of them, but no one got back to us.
In today’s world, where news spreads at the speed of light, there’s often no time for thorough research.
Copy-pasted content becomes the norm, and soon, every outlet is running the same story.
Adi’s story was featured everywhere in no time, but no one took the time to understand how this 10-year-old developed such advanced skills.
So here’s the background no one bothered to ask about:
Adi has always been drawn to tech and mechanics.
Even at a very young age, he loved playing with cars, trying to understand how they worked.
He has always loved creating things.
When he was just 5 years old, he started exploring block coding through platforms like Code.org.
Soon after, he began creating small projects using Scratch, nurturing his interest in building something from scratch—literally.
In the last two years, Adi started exploring Flutter, a framework that allowed him to create more complex applications.
He built small but functional apps like a to-do list app and a shopping cart app.
His interest in tech kept growing, and now he loves diving into the world of AI, creating apps with tools like ChatGPT and Cursor AI.
We left traditional schooling three years ago because Adi wanted to follow his learning path.
His creative mind wasn’t confined to the four walls of a classroom.
Over time, he started designing games and even created a simulation car game accessory for one of them. His creativity and curiosity know no bounds, and he is constantly trying new things.
In addition to being a self-learner, Adi is also the young ambassador for the MaNaBu Movement, which champions young change-makers.

He loves to travel, and he’s visited many alternative learning spaces in India, meeting with alternative educators and exploring different approaches to learning.
He’s fortunate to have incredible mentors from all over the world who guide and support him as he hone his skills.
What stands out the most about Adi is his dedication to self-discipline.
He is constantly learning to manage his time carefully, balancing his love for tech with his need for play and family time.
He doesn’t have to sit at his laptop all day to learn or create.
Instead, he structures his day in a way that allows him to grow as a learner, creator, and young traveler.
Adi’s goal is to explore the world, learn from different cultures and adapt to the ever-evolving world of technology.
In an era where knowledge is readily available on the internet, all we need is the right guidance, a self-learning attitude, creativity, and critical thinking.
That’s what Adi embodies every day, and that’s the story that wasn’t told when his video went viral.
Though the media went on to share Adi’s story, some responses included backlash and scepticism.
Despite this, we are incredibly grateful for the amazing supporters who have known us and believe in our journey.
Many close friends rallied in support of this young learner, standing by his passion and dedication.
It’s crucial to support young people who are ready to explore, learn, and innovate. When we nurture their curiosity and give them the tools to grow, they can achieve extraordinary things.
If anyone from the media is reading this we would be happy to share our story.

2 个月Priyanka it's sad none of these people or news channels etc thought to cross check facts. One look at your blog would have given them plenty of examples of the wholesome learning and lifestyle Aadhi and you follow. It's that journey they should have highlighted and appreciated instead of forming absurd opinions based on just this video. And even funny that in this age they think coding is bad and watching Power Rangers is much better.

2 个月Really glad you chose to share this side of your story. More parents need to see it. Those who are closed minded will only see the negatives if that’s what they want to see - but you’re opening so many experiences and opportunities for him. I wish every child could have this sort of education. We start our journey next year and are preparing for it. If you have any tips then I’d love to chat.

2 个月We face similar criticisms from those who are so conditioned into the factory system of living that they can’t see beyond it, very Truman Show. I get asked questions like “how do your children learn”? “How do they socialise”? and it takes all my self discipline not to reply with what I really want to say to such ignorance All three of my kids were running businesses before they hit double digits and learning, and socialising as part of the real world, not institutionalised, age segregated and treated like factory worker robots. Unschooling has given them freedom to be, explore, play, discover, and grow in the real world in which they will spent the rest of their lives. Loved this post Priyanka ??
