·?????My Maternal Haplogroup (HI) is a genetic lineage that traces back to a common ancestor on your mother's side. It is determined by analyzing specific markers on your mitochondria, which is the energy-producing organelle found in cells.

·?????My Paternal Haplogroup (R-U152) is a genetic lineage that traces back to a common ancestor on your father's side. It is determined by analyzing specific markers on the Y chromosome, which is passed down from father to son.

·?????Haplogroups are used to trace the movement and migration patterns of human populations over thousands of years.

·?????My Maternal Haplogroup (HI) is thought to have originated in the Near East or Caucasus region around 25,000 years ago.

·?????My Paternal Haplogroup (R-U152) is thought to have originated in the western part of Europe around 4,000 years ago.

·?????Haplogroups can be used to identify genetic relationships between individuals and to learn about the ancestry and history of a person's family.

·?????My Maternal Haplogroup (HI) has been found in various populations around the world, including Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia.

·?????My Paternal Haplogroup (R-U152) has been found in various populations in Europe, particularly in France, the British Isles, and Italy.

·?????Different haplogroups are associated with different genetic risks for certain health conditions. However, it's important to note that many factors, including lifestyle and environment, can also influence a person's risk for these conditions.

·?????Haplogroups are just one aspect of a person's genetics, and they do not determine an individual's traits or characteristics.

After an intense exploration into my family's history and DNA, I was thrilled to learn that I am 99.9% European ancestry. Growing up in New York, I always considered myself an American, but this new information has helped me to understand my place in the world and my connection to my ancestors.

1.???Emperor Nicholas II of Russia:

• Nicholas II was the last Tsar of Russia, ruling from 1894 until his abdication in 1917. He was a member of the Romanov dynasty, which had ruled Russia since 1613.
• Nicholas II was faced with numerous challenges during his reign, including the Russo-Japanese War, the 1905 Russian Revolution, and World War I.
• He was known for his strong belief in autocracy and his resistance to political reform, which contributed to the growing discontent among the Russian people.
• Nicholas II and his family were executed by the Bolsheviks in 1918, bringing an end to the Romanov dynasty and the Russian monarchy.
• Nicholas II is remembered for his role in the decline of the Russian Empire and for his tragic end.

Nicholas II during his reign as Tsar of Russia, as his time as leader was marked by numerous challenges and conflicts. BUT he had many magnificent achievements of his rule too and they include:

• Modernization of Russia: During his reign, Nicholas II implemented several reforms aimed at modernizing and industrializing Russia, including the development of a railway system, the establishment of a central bank, and the promotion of education.
• Territorial expansion: Nicholas II oversaw the expansion of Russia's territory through the conquest of new lands, including the annexation of parts of China, Korea, and Central Asia.
• Military victories: Russia achieved several military victories under Nicholas II, including the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 and the victory over Japan in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905.
• Cultural achievements: Nicholas II's reign saw the flowering of Russian culture, with the emergence of influential writers, artists, and musicians such as Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
• Improved relations with other countries: During his reign, Nicholas II worked to improve Russia's relationships with other countries and played a key role in the creation of the Triple Entente alliance with France and Britain.

Note: It is worth noting, however, that these achievements were often overshadowed by the numerous challenges and conflicts that marked Nicholas II's reign, including political instability, economic difficulties, and military defeats. PLUS Russia is considered a European country, because 75% of its population resides in the European continent. Russia is also an Asian country since almost 75% of the Russian Territory falls in Asia.

2. Napoleon Bonaparte:

• Napoleon was a French statesman and military leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and its associated wars. He became Emperor of the French from 1804 until 1814, and again briefly in 1815 during the Hundred Days.
• He is considered one of the greatest commanders in history, and his wars and campaigns are studied at military schools worldwide.
• Napoleon implemented a series of sweeping reforms across Europe, including the Napoleonic Code, which served as the basis for legal systems in numerous countries.
• He was defeated in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 and exiled to the island of Saint Helena, where he died six years later.
• Despite his controversial actions, Napoleon remains a significant figure in European history and is remembered for his military and political achievements.

3. Luke the Evangelist:

• Luke was a physician and one of the authors of the New Testament, believed to have written the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles.
• He was a missionary and companion of the apostle Paul, and his writings provide valuable insights into the life and teachings of Jesus.
• According to tradition, Luke was a Gentile and possibly a slave, and his gospel is notable for its emphasis on the inclusion of Gentiles in the early Christian community.
• He is venerated as a saint in many Christian denominations, and his feast day is celebrated on October 18th in the Roman Catholic Church and on November 18th in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
• Luke is remembered for his contributions to the spread of Christianity and for his role in preserving the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament.

4. Marie Antoinette:

• Marie Antoinette was the Queen of France as the wife of King Louis XVI. She was a member of the Habsburg-Lorraine family and was the fifteenth and second youngest child of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria and Holy Roman Emperor Francis I.
• She is remembered for her extravagance and perceived lack of concern for the plight of the French people, which contributed to the resentment and anger towards the monarchy during the French Revolution.
• Marie Antoinette was a trendsetter in fashion and popularized the "pouf" hairstyle, which involved arranging one's hair into an elaborate arrangement on top of the head.
• She was executed by guillotine in 1793 during the Reign of Terror, and her death marked the end of the French monarchy.
• Marie Antoinette is a controversial figure in history, remembered both for her role in the excesses of the French court and her tragic end during the French Revolution.

Over the past few years, I've been conducting research on my ancestry, which has helped me to understand my principles and purpose in life. It has also revealed key moments in my past when everything just seemed to fall into place.

As I reflect on my journey of discovering my ancestry, I am filled with a sense of pride and excitement. Not only have I learned about my maternal and paternal haplogroups and my Neanderthal ancestry, but I have also connected with DNA relatives and gained a deeper understanding of my genome and my heritage.

With 99.9% of my DNA being European, and the majority coming from Northwestern Europe, I feel incredibly blessed to have such a rich and diverse ancestry. And as I continue to learn more about my history and culture, I find myself inspired to explore new languages, correspond with distant cousins, and even try new sports and foods from countries like Holland, Scotland, France, Germany, and Italy. But my journey doesn't stop here.

In fact, it's only just beginning. I have even planned an "ancestry field trip" for 2023 and it's now on my "bucket list".

Each day, I am driven to learn more about myself and my roots, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for my ancestry journey. And, planning on visiting my brother Chris in The Hague, Netherlands soon too!
