How do you engage people with personal stories? Did you know about the power of storytelling?

When you tell life stories you build trust between you and your conversation partner. It happens because you share something personal.

When people understand that you have been through pain, joy, success, and failures in your life, they don’t take you as a stranger anymore but as a “people person”, and they trust you more.

Here are some??ideas for your stories to engage your audience:

?? Where are you from? You may have some interesting motivational stories about your home town, moving to a different city or country, etc.

?? What accomplishments are you proud of? How have you reached them? Did you fail along the way? I like to audit my experiences and see if there were any benefits that situation brought to you in a long term.

?? Do you have any stories where you got help from someone? We always love heart-warming stories concerning unexpected help in a difficult situation, for example, when you were in big trouble, some person or a coincidence suddenly brought you hope, energy, or even ideas that brought you to success.

?? Do you have family-related stories? For example, Richard Branson, the famous entrepreneur, likes to share a story about how his parents taught him to swim and never give up.

?? What before-after stories can you recall? For example, the story about Steve Jobs’s garage, the place where the Apple company was created, is a vivid example of storytelling. By the way, before-after stories are always the most interesting and popular ones.

?? How about stories about your work? You may have a non-trivial case about how you have closed an important deal or found a partner due to a happy coincidence.

?? Maybe a story about something you experienced as a big failure earlier, but later on saw what benefits that situation brought to you in a long term.
