The Story of How Megan Finally Embraced Self-Care

“Oh my gosh, I could never do that”. Five hours!?! - That is how Megan responded when I asked her to schedule 5 hours of self-care for the week.

She further implored,?

“How am I going to do that with the three roles I’m holding down at work, not to mention the family obligations, and the new dog?”

I met with Megan again today for our coaching call this week. She happily reported that she got five hours of self-care this week.?

Megan realized she’s been doing self-care all along, yet begrudgingly.?

For example, she did an hour of yoga with her daughter and in the past, she perceived that more as an obligation going, oh my gosh, I need to do yoga with my daughter!

Her mind ran, I should be doing the dishes, I could be doing other work. And, she used to show up at yoga with anxious energy.?

This week, doing yoga with her daughter she recognized that oh my gosh, this is self-care.?

“This is self-care for me and I also get quality time with my daughter.”?

She and her daughter were happier, laughed more together and Megan walked away more calm because they had so much fun.?

Same thing happened when she took her son to the park.?

It used to be an obligation, now she framed it as self-care.
