While I am Isolated due to Covid 19, many thoughts have been running in my mind over last 13 days, penning down few such thoughts & feelings. This is my first attempt to pen down my thoughts, pardon me, these are purely my personal feelings which I experienced while Fighting this more of Mental Virus than the Actual Virus.
1. Acceptance of Change & Moving On - Last 6 Months, while I have been stepping out of home for work, I had somehow overcome this fear of unknown however the Test Reports shocked me and my biggest fear came true. Sometimes, it’s important in life to come to terms with your own fears, this helps us to re-strategize ourselves and get over our Over Confidence & Complacency. Accepting change is finding a way to move on and think about your future. By looking ahead and looking to the future, you are able to better deal with the past and accept it as something that had to happen for you to move forward.
2. Was delighted to see my 10 year old daughter growing daily for this long again after those 30-40 days of Lockdown of April- May, see her spend her days/nights – Studying, jumping around the house, talking & playing indoors- few things which I always missed to notice amidst my corporate & life chores. We even celebrated her Pet Birds Birthday together, which I am sure I would have never done if I wasn’t at home. It’s good to take a pause at times, to look around and celebrate what we missed due to our daily chores. "Life is one time offer, use it well".
3. Importance & Value of our Relationships - Friend, Family and Colleagues- One of the biggest thing which has helped me to stay positive are those constant “Get Well Soon” wishes, Phone calls/ messages from my Family Members, Closest Friends, Uncle/ Aunts, Cousins, Friends & Colleagues. I was pleasantly surprised while I received many calls saying “just called to check, if you are doing well”. We constantly preoccupy ourselves with thoughts of things we don’t have and experiences we are missing out on. It took me these 13 days of Locking inside the Room to realize, endless value of Folks, I have around me and how fortunate I am to have them around. I have always been an firm believer of Airtel Jingle “ Har Ek Friend Zaroori Hota hai”, nothing else is required to prove this true now.
4. Materialistic things are Immaterialistic- This Pandemic has taught us one good lesson to all of us, “Learn to appreciate what you have before time makes you appreciate what you had.”
5. Physical and Mental fitness is of paramount importance – One thing that kept me going during this Pandemic was Staying Active and Positive, while most of us recognize exercise/ physical activity for its benefits to the body, we often overlook what it can do for the brain. Staying Positive helped me to approach unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. I kept thinking the best is going to happen, not the worst. During the last 2-3 days once I was feeling a little better, I have ensured to stay active by clocking 10K Steps while walking inside the house itself and intend to continue the same after the ordeal is over too.
6. Necessity of Hobby or Passion- All of us are busy in our daily chores are slowly disengaging from our inner voice and the route to our soul. It’s time to find and ignite the flames again. Last 13 days, while I picked up reading as something which I always wanted to do for long, I realized it is must for us to have atleast a Hobby/ Passion, which will keep you going beyond the routine, becomes your source of joy/ happiness, peace and gives you a sense of achievement!
7 Life is Beautiful- Live it – Situations like Covid will come & go, ..... it’s good take a pause at times and Reboot, Reset your Professional and Personal goals and move on !!!
At the end, let’s not forget ........ “ Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don`t Fight them. Just find a new way to Stand”……… Oprah Winfrey
Cheers to Life….. Atish
