Story of a goat and a king

Once upon a time there was a King who had a pet goat. He was not sure that the goat is eating enough food in the palace and therefore was getting worried that his goat needs to be more healthy and hence he made an announcement "whoever can make this goat well fed and happy will get a reward". But there was a catch, King also said that " I will take a test if the goat is really well fed and happy after coming back to palace".

One person thought it is so easy to get the goat fed fully, so he took the goat out in the jungle where there was lot of green grass. He sat below a tree and let the goat free, the goat went on grazing on the green grass for long time and finally went to sleep. So that man thought that the goat is well fed and so he took him back to the palace and told the king that the goat is well fed and happy. When King saw the goat he offered him more green grass and the goat started eating the grass again, which showed that he was not well fed and happy since he could not stop eating again in the palace.

Then there was a wise man in the village. He thought that there must be some catch in this announcement, there must be some other trick to get the goat overfed and therefore he told the king that he will get the goat overfed and bring him back happy. So he took the goat to the green lawn and as soon as the goat started eating the grass this wise man hit the goat with a stick so that he could not eat further. He went on doing this that whenever the goat wanted to eat grass he would hit him with a stick and the goat would stop eating again.

So he brought this goat back to the palace and the King was ready for the test. The wise man kept the goat near the grass at the palace and he showed the stick to the goat, as soon as the goat saw the stick he would not touch the grass as his psychology was built in such a way that as soon as he starts eating he would get beaten with stick so he did not eat any grass in the palace and the King was finally happy that the goat is really overfed and happy so he gave that reward to the wise man.

But then the King said he wanted to know what exactly was done by the wise man so that the goat had eaten so much in the day that he did not want to eat more grass in the palace. The wise man said to the King, "Sir, it is simple psychology that worked, the moment the goat started eating I started hitting him with a stick and he would stop eating, therefore this trick I continued every time he started eating grass I hit him with a stick. Therefore his psychology become like whenever he would start eating grass he would get hit by a stick.

But the King got wild that the wise man had tricked the goat by hitting with a stick thereby harmed him as he stopped eating the grass. But then the wise man said " Sir, if you allow me to make the goat eat the grass again I can do that easily". "But how will you do this again?". " Sir even human mind works the same way as the goat's mind does". " what does that mean?" the King asked. " Sir, our mind can also be controlled by the stick called as "reasoning" if you stop our mind from thinking about bad things in life by using reasoning, we shall stop doing the bad things because reasoning can control our mind very well.". The King became so happy with the thoughts of the wise man that he appointed him as his personal advisor in the palace. Cheers!
