A story of Diversity and Pride! HyperBeard’s celebration of LGBTQ+ Inclusion

Inclusion is not a mere policy. At HyperBeard, inclusion is a fundamental part of our culture. Given that we are a company devoted to creating creative games, representation and diversity are essential not only for our player community but it is also for our developing team. Celebrating LGBTQ+ inclusion reflects our values and commitment to a safe and welcoming work environment for everyone to express their true colors.


In variety lies richness: voices from the Team


We, the team at HyperBeard, know we can be ourselves with all our LGBTQ+ness because here, unity is strength. We constantly work to create a safe and pleasant space where every single one of us can thrive.


For the Copy/Writing team, the aim is to represent ourselves by proposing and creating characters that reflect the LGBTQ+ community. How? By creating diverse characters voices and using inclusive language. ?When localizing content, knowing the characters' pronouns is crucial because that's where representation and visibility for our community begin. Language is their tool, after all! And we take it a step further with our artists, ever creating characters that truly speak to us! We are convinced that these small actions in our (little) games make a (huge!) difference.


Social Media is often a place where we can feel proud of creating said diversity. Users and fans constantly express their positive reactions to our game’s contents. Most of our games (if not all!) regularly feature queer content that goes beyond just June: for us is a 12 month visibility and celebration. After all, we’re a really diverse team of developers working in these cute, cozy games! It’s important to put on the table that we are here, we are valid, and that is okay.


Working at HyperBeard has given us security and freedom in our daily lives. We work together so that in HyperBeard's content our voices are taken into account, ?to achieve greater inclusion and not to leave anyone unseen. This is the first company where many of us have worked that not only respects but celebrates diversity. Early in the job interviews, the Human Resources team let everybody know that this is a safe space for community members and everyone is asked their stand on diversity and inclusion. That way, we can feel safe and openly share that we are part of this community once we join the team.


A Lasting Commitment


Each of our individual experiences reflect HyperBeard's commitment to inclusion and representation as a whole team. We believe that a work environment where everyone can be themselves without fear of being judged or discriminated against is essential for well-being and productivity. Additionally, we strive to create games that reflect the diversity of our community. We’re happy and proud to have created a virtual safe space for those who need it, where every player can feel seen and represented.


At HyperBeard, celebrating LGBTQ+ inclusion is more than a practice. It is a principle that guides our way of working and creating. We will continue to strive to be an example of diversity and representation in the gaming industry. Thank you for being part of this adventure with us!
