Story Corner | 05 | Theme: Difficult Times and Adaptation

Once upon a time, a young girl regularly complained her father that, her life is miserable and she is tired of fighting and struggling all the time. As soon as she solves one problem, immediately another one chases her.

?To get her reality of life, one day - Father took her to the kitchen. He filled three separate pots with adequate water and filled with potatoes, eggs, and coffee beans respectively. He let them on high fire for 20 minutes.

He took the potatoes & eggs out of the pot and placed them in a bowl. Also, ladled the coffee out and placed in a cup.

?Turning to her he asked. “Dear, what do you see?”. She hastily replied “Boiled potatoes, eggs, and coffee”.

“Look closer,” father said. She noticed, now potatoes were soft, eggs were hard-boiled and Coffee was enriched with aroma.

?“Dad, what does this mean?” she asked.

He then explained that the potatoes, the eggs and coffee beans had each faced the same adversity - “The boiling water”. However, each one reacted differently.

?The potatoes - were hard but, in boiling water, it became soft and weak.

The eggs - ware fragile but, in the boiling water, eggs became hard.

And lastly, the coffee beans - changed the water itself and created something new.

?He smiled & asked his daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Being a potato, an egg, or a coffee bean?"

Moral: In life, when a critical situation appears, adapt yourself to tackle the problem.
