Story-building Connections: Putting Your Audience First

Creating content that resonates with your audience isn't just an option—it's a necessity.?

This for me meant moving from “training/education” type content into more thought leadership content - helping your audience to change their beliefs and shift their thinking.? Which is much more impactful.? So who do you do that?

The foundation of powerful content is connection. You need to show your audience that you genuinely care about them. The questions you should always be asking yourself is: "What's in it for them?" and “what do they need to believe to move forward?”

Meet Them in Their “Map of the World”

When crafting your message, consider where your audience is on their journey. What are their challenges, aspirations, and pain points? By understanding and meeting them at this point, your content will be more relevant and engaging. This isn't about you or your product initially; it's about connecting with their current reality.

The most important element to this is “language”.? As experts we can often find ourselves too engrossed in our own “jargon” we forget to speak our clients language.

Dedicate Time to Them

A golden rule in communication is to spend dedicated time focusing solely on understanding your audience. Find out all about them - their dreams, struggles, and what they value. This shows that you value them and are interested in their story, not just in pushing your own agenda.

The Kylie Factor

Think about it like this: “Kylie loves to travel - she is spontaneous, thinks on her feet, and loves to explore outside the box”.?

My content needs to embody this spirit of adventure and curiosity. It should connect with my audience in a way that sparks their sense of exploration and excitement. Just as a captivating travel guide enriches a traveller's journey by highlighting hidden gems and unique experiences, your content should offer tangible benefits and inspire your audience to think differently.

More Than Just Accolades

While it's important to showcase your achievements, don't let your content become a monologue of accolades. Instead, frame your success stories in a way that highlights how your clients have benefited. Your audience should see themselves as the hero in your stories, with your product or service as the catalyst for their success.

Relevance and Benefit

When you create posts and content, always ask:?

What’s in it for them?

Why should they join you??

Why should they care??

Even when telling a story, how can they relate, put themselves in the picture or be part of your journey?

The content needs to be topical and relevant, addressing the issues that are currently affecting your audience.?

What societal trends are impacting their industry??

What unique struggles are they facing today that your solution can alleviate?

Empathy and Engagement

Empathy is the key to engagement. When you show that you understand and care about your audience's struggles, you create a connection that goes beyond a simple transaction. This connection fosters loyalty and trust, essential components of a long-term relationship.

Linking Your Story to Their Needs

Your personal story and solution should be seamlessly linked to many of your posts so you continue to build the know, like and trust factor.? But more importantly they get to “know you” - why are you different, what makes you unique.? Your personal brand is the thing that makes you stand out.

Linking your personal elements and stories with understanding your audience struggles, perhaps because you've faced similar challenges. creates more engaging content.??

Then you’ll have the opportunity to present your solution as a way to help them move forward. This builds credibility and trust, showing that you're not just selling a product but offering a genuine solution to their problems.

Personal Priorities and Legacy

Everyone has different priorities and perspectives. For me, this journey isn't just about achieving business success; it's about a bigger vision - a legacy of changing people's lives. Let me share my client Stephanie’s story, a client whose journey illustrates this perfectly…?

Stephanie & Nicky's Impact and the Ripple Effect

When I first started? my business to help people scale online, I did it as I saw so many amazing women with incredible gifts playing too small or honestly struggling to pay their bills!? I wanted to elevate more women as we need more role models!

Stephanie came to me with an already established business, but an idea she had been sitting on for ages to help others get started in property with little or no money and to help them get their first deal.? She was worried about the “sharks” in the property industry and not being “just another one” of those trainers!

We carefully crafted her own methodology for success, did a soft launch that got her the first 12 people to work with, and in the end had to run another cohort as 24 people signed up so quickly!

Through this process she was able to step by step improve her content and process,? get incredible results for her clients and build another income stream for herself and her business with her sister Nicky.

Over 3 years this has now grown to over a million in sales.

But more importantly it’s created the ripple effect.

By playing a bigger game, getting their knowledge out there, they have now built their own community, become role models and Leaders in their industry? and helped so many people become financially free through property, get their first deals and many more!

It all started with an idea that turned into a story which has built a legacy!

Now they share their story and elevate their clients stories to empower others to ethically get started in property!

Are you playing a big enough game?

Your content should be a blend of empathy, relevance, and benefit. By focusing on what's in it for them, meeting them on their map of the world, and linking your story to their needs, you create a powerful connection.?

This approach not only enhances engagement but also builds lasting relationships with your audience.

Remember, in the end, it's all about them. Show them you care, and in return they'll care about you. DM me to find out more...
