story about a book

In 2010 two John's got the same book. John A didn't know John B at the time and neither of them knew the author of the book but someone who knew them both, and for no reason at all, gifted them with it. Sometimes people do such things.

Who gave the book to two John's is irrelevant but the book isn't. It was an educational book, about sales, and a short one. Mere 50 pages.

John A took this book to his lunch one day and finished reading it before he finished his club sandwich and chips. He learnt as much as there was to learn from the book, applied what he learnt and later the same year made his first million.

John B never had a club sandwich for his lunch. He is a? salad or soup kind of guy. And he doesn’t have a habit of reading during lunches either. John B scanned the book quickly when received it, found an alarming number of errors, grammar mistakes, misspellings and other typos and tossed the book to a bin without a second thought. His first and only thought about the book was that it must have been not a good one if it had been written in such bad language.

John B didn’t read the book and didn’t make his million later that year but he did considerably OK for himself regardless. He happened to be an assistant manager in a big company with a serious chance for a promotion. The second biggest company in the country, in fact. This company was founded and is owned by John A so, all this year later John A and John B know each other now. But they never have lunch together. Or talk about the books they’ve not read.

Not every story is true, but every story contains little truth.
