"The Story Behind Cigar&Techh: Where My Love for Cigars Meets My Passion for Technology"

?? Ever since I was 16 years old, I have had a passion for tobacco, specifically a really good cigar. If you ever wonder why I named my newsletter and my business "Cigar&Techh," it's because there are two things I love that I consider to be my rich life: cigars and technology. Here is a little background on why I love cigars and technology

?? Growing up, my grandfather, who was on my dad's side of my family, was from Havanna, Cuba. He was very proud of Cuban American as he grew up in Cuba before the communist party came into power, "Fidel Castro." My grandfather grew up in a line of significantly higher-level Cuban politicians, which included a Cuban General named "Gerardo Machado" who was also president of Cuba before Batista came into power.

?? At a very young age, he was put into a high-end military school in Cuba to become an officer in the Cuban Military before Fidel Castro came into power. My grandfather would attend this school when he was very young. Even when he left Cuba for the United States, he would fly to Havanna to attend school. Until Fidel Castro and Che Guevara came into power in Cuba and the embargo occurred, he could no longer fly into Cuba and become an officer in the Cuban Military.

?? Fast-forward, sadly, my grandfather passed away in January this year from lung cancer. He was a very hard-working man who did his best to make a name for himself in the United States. But I remember growing up, he would talk about Cuba and how they would roll cigars. Even as a kid, he had a box of Cuban cigars he ended up selling to a bunch of his friends, and that was my first exposure to cigars.

?? Growing up, at 16, I was able to get my hands on my first cigar. I did not light it the right way or smoke like you should, but I loved it. Fast forward, I heard about Cuban cigars and how we could not get them in the United States. So when I joined the military and they asked me where I wanted to be stationed, I chose overseas orders to Okinawa, Japan, because I knew I could get my hands on Cuban cigars.

?? I have been a cigar smoker since I was 18 years old, and I usually have a cigar on Friday and Saturday every week. It has become a ritual for me, and I love to try out different types of tobacco. Whenever I smoke a cigar, it helps me concentrate, relax, and think in more in-depth ways that I cannot describe, whether life or, most importantly, technology.

Concentration

?? When I was learning Swift and Python programming languages, I would smoke cigars while I was programming. To me, it was super relaxing to enjoy every note of the cigar flavor. At the same time, it allowed me to clear my mind and concentrate on the code and logic I was writing. My love for programming was also on the end of the cigar. It is the best combo. Whenever I wanted to program, I would either go to the cigar lounge or in the garage and light up the cigar.

Drawing Board & BluePrinting

?? When I was breaking into the cybersecurity field, all the decisions I made to allow me to get to where I am now were all made in a cigar lounge or my garage with cigar. Again, whenever I would smoke a cigar, it was super relaxing, and it was my way to flush all my anxiety and thoughts in my head. It also allowed me to blueprint a daily game plan for breaking into cybersecurity. My mind would have all this time to think of ways to do this transition, and I could blueprint how to execute this plan.

The Notes of Premium Cigar

?? Every cigar has its own personality, so when you use some specific type of cigar, it also dictates how I would think. For example, if I were smoking a full-bodied cigar with a high-level profile, I would think aggressively toward my goals if I were having medium-bodied cigars like Maduro. I would be more relaxed and think more precisely about how I wanted to execute my goals. The notes of cigars are a significant factor in how I feel and relax, so I always smoke medium-bodied cigars.

Reading & Premium Cigar

?? I used never to enjoy reading much, but when I would have a cigar and read a really good book. I could finish a few chapters of the book quickly if I was smoking a cigar because my concentration levels were always the best when I smoked premium cigars. As a kid and while growing up, I've always had issues with multitasking and being unable to concentrate. Still, whenever I would smoke a cigar, it was like I was able to concentrate and not think about anything else except the cigar and also whatever I was doing while I was smoking the cigar. I read many of the books I owned while smoking premium cigars.

Cigar&Techh

?? The business that I am starting will be called "Cigar&Techh" because I love the technology field and premium cigars. I am not telling people to start smoking, and if you are trying to break into cybersecurity, I am not asking you or convincing you to smoke cigars. Cigar smoking is not the healthiest habit but I love premium cigars.
