Stories Will Save the World
What makes us who we are? Where we come from, what we do, what we believe. That’s part of it. What our own words tell us about ourselves gives others a sense of us as human beings. These are small conversations that reveal truths. A single photograph surely does not define us but it can speak volumes. It can convey our energy. It can convey our soul.
Listening is what makes us human. Empathy makes us human. We have all walked in similar shoes. This is how our stories are conveyed. We are stories, and stories can save the world.
When your story overlaps with my story a friendship is formed. We share our stories with our friends. So it is really friendship that can, and will, save the world. In order to change how this is all going, this mad competition for resources and recognition, we have to reveal. We have to take a risk. We have to be willing to listen and be listened to. And we have to speak the truth.
I call these little nuggets of truth ODES. I started doing them so that I can help further the stories of others, so that we are not reduced to mere names and lists of buzzwords. I was taking pictures, but I was learning so much more than the picture itself would reveal. So I began asking questions. The answers became the foundation of ODE. And they are your words not mine. I simply probe. I learn about you and share that with the world.
