Stories revolve around events and people

We have stories to narrate and those stories revolve around the people we interact with and the events we find ourselves in.

People and events influence action of different kinds.

So much and so little is going on at the same time.

There are several people in groups, engaged in different conversations on a number of subjects.

In an isolated corner, one person with earphones is bobbing the head this and that way.

Which brings me to reflect on the point of how I turned out to choose to be a Community Organizer.

As a young boy, I never knew I would turn out to be an influencer. All I knew was to live humbly, curiously, make mistakes, learn from them, make friends, be friendly, know about hurt, know about healing and know about growing.

But that was so general!

I also learnt to be simplistic! That is when I discovered how to be systematic too. I learnt how to localize so that I connect with aspirations. That is how I got into medical, development and social justice work.

At one time I would be part of a team mobilizing communities for medical camps, at another working as part of a Fistula Corrective team and at another training community members about viable group formation and dynamics. This was the recipe of my Community Organizing dream and goal. Within it was another calling.

Community-based health and development work is how I started off and how I have continued serving.

Community Organizing is a passion that I am improving as the days, months and years go by.

There is power in organized communities that if harnessed can become the fuel for anti-poverty and anti-disease drives anywhere.

Organized communities thrive because the members are engaged, focused and have common desires to make theirs a life promoting experience.
