Stories of Hope | December 2024
Christian Aid
We are a partnership of people, churches and local organisations committed to ending poverty worldwide.
What does comfort and joy mean to you this Christmas? Perhaps it’s the love of nearby friends or family. Or perhaps it means having security, with a warm home and food to eat.
However this resonates with you this year, comfort and joy can feel far from the day-to-day reality for families across the globe. Shede, a mother and grandmother from Sudan, had to flee her home and country as a result of a civil war that threatened hers and her family’s lives. Leaving everything behind, Shede faced a daily challenge to provide meals for her children. Christian Aid’s local partner Smile Again Africa Development Organisation is providing a vital lifeline so that Shede can buy nutritious food for their family. Read more about how your support this Christmas can help a family like Shede’s to find some comfort and joy during a time of upheaval and uncertainty.
One of the central themes of the Christmas message is hope and this is also at the heart of a poignant new Christmas single that we have released in partnership with acclaimed musician Jords and the iNSIGNIA gospel choir. You can listen here - I have been playing the song on repeat and I hope you enjoy it too. Please share with your friends and family.
All of us here at Christian Aid wish you comfort and joy this Christmas.

An act of solidarity: ?Doves of peace
As we prepare to celebrate Christmas, it’s hard not to reflect on the world around us - the unrest, the conflict, and the millions of lives uprooted by violence and crisis. As we hang decorations on our trees and light candles for Advent, supporters of Christian Aid are taking a moment to reflect. Across the UK, churches and communities are displaying doves - symbols of peace and hope - as an act of solidarity with families living through conflict. Read more here.
