Stories of Hope | August 2024

We seem to be experiencing an unpredictable Summer this year but at last we have sunshine following record rainfall. We hope this brings you opportunities to gather and enjoy time outdoors with friends and family.

Whilst we don’t have certainty over how long the Summer sun will last, we can be certain that the ever changing weather across the globe is a result of climate change. Storms, floods, droughts and wildfires are wreaking havoc on people’s homes and livelihoods – often impacting the most vulnerable communities around the world.

As Christians, we’re called to challenge the injustice of the climate crisis. With all eyes on Paris for the Games this is a perfect opportunity to raise awareness of climate injustice and to call for change. While it’s thrilling to see the world’s greatest athletes breaking new records, our new film highlights how climate change is breaking new records each year.


Letters from the children of Gaza to Prime Minister

The passionate pleas of children in Gaza were delivered directly to the Prime Minister at Downing Street. Christian Aid presented two letters written by Gaza children to Sir Keir Starmer MP on behalf of our partner, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR). The heartbreaking letters ask him to intervene and help bring about a permanent ceasefire. Read the full story here.
