Stories of a Career-Focused Psychologist 4: What I really hope to do in the Psychological scene in Singapore?

I always believe that the future is in the next generation. By creating a good environment for growth and guiding the next generation of students and professionals, it allows them to have better awareness and growth of their own journeys in psychology, and hopefully they will grow it further for the next generations to come.

My contributions towards the psychological scene have always been directed by those two above sentences. I have been creating awareness about psychology, advocating for growth for the aspiring psychologists, and providing a space for mentoring and guidance for their own journeys in psychology.

What else can be done for students and aspiring psychologists, within the means of what can be done? I would love to hear from everyone.

What I hope to do is to work on accreditation of Psychology programmes in Singapore. But it is still a long way to do, until work can be done on it.

Accreditation will mean that psychologists will be properly trained and properly recognised if they undergo the respective programmes, and it will definitely improve the situation of Psychology in Singapore. What we can do now is to have more discussions about this topic of accreditation: About its importance and need of it, suggestions on how it can be done, and the hopeful changes and impact it will have on Psychology in Singapore.
