#StoptheSpread, Watch Theatre From Your Bed!
With the COVID-19 induced quarantine, Green Buffalo Productions is chomping at the bit to deliver new theatre to WNY. Last weekend, they helped keep spirits high with our first-ever writing challenge, the Quarantine Quarters! This challenge required playwrights to complete a 10 to 15-minute short play within 48 hours and to include the following content within the story:
Line 1
"What would your mother say about that?"
Line 2
"No matter what I got your back."
Props
vinyl, an "air-tight seal," bible, a can of spam
BONUS
Set in a Library or Mall
BONUS
Include both lines of dialogue
Writers emailed GBP to express their interest in participating and received the writing prompt at 7 pm on Friday. All entries needed to be received by 7 pm that Sunday to be considered for the competition.
Now GBP is keeping the fun going this weekend with a LIVE READING of the top four plays. They're thrilled to be showcasing 3 new playwrights as well as several new and returning actors. Here they are:
The Mysterious Sisters of Subterranean Cave Kokomo, j Snodgrass
Melanie Hidy and Sarah Henderson will be playing June and Moon, two sisters stuck in a fallout shelter from the 1960s.
Hide & Seek, Zoe Kiriazis
Ellen Scherer and Nick Edwards will be playing Molly and Will, two teens getting to know each other in an abandoned mall. They don’t know what to expect from the world’s new normal, let alone themselves. Secrets come out and honesty takes over.
Paradise Mall, Sarah Henderson
Leyla Gentil and Zoe Kiriazis will be playing Emily and Eva, two sisters who learn more about each other in these 15 minutes at Paradise Mall than some others do in their entire lives.
Hell Hath No Fury Like a Writer's Block, Zack Hatrick & Arash Omari
Madison Sedlor and Sarah Hill will be playing Writer One and Writer Two, who discover they are trapped within the library of their subconscious while brainstorming ideas.
