Hello Tire Talk Community,
Welcome back to our weekly dive into the tire industry! If you're new here, I'm Fernando Herrera and in this newsletter, I shed light on the tire business, offering tips, advice, and insights to help you accelerate your growth. Don't forget to follow me on LinkedIn and Instagram to stay up-to-date with my journey.
Today, I want to share a deeply personal story with you, one that has shaped my career and my perspective on the tire industry.
Why I Left My Dad's Tire Shop
My journey in the tire industry began at my dad's tire shop. We've had our fair share of disagreements, often resulting from different views on business operations. I'll never forget when I had to fire an underperforming employee, only for my dad to rehire them the very next day because he valued their selling skills.
But it wasn't all uphill battles; there were many rewarding moments too. My father entrusted me with the leadership of our wholesale division, and together, we skyrocketed our daily sales from $500 to $10,000 within a few years. These experiences, both the highs and the lows, shaped me into who I am today. But they weren't the reason I decided to leave the family business.
The true reason I chose to leave was the calling I felt towards Tire Base and TheTireDealer.com. I realized that I could make a larger impact by aiding other tire business owners in growing their companies with online platforms and software solutions.
The Journey to Tire Base and TheTireDealer.com
Embarking on my journey with Tire Base and TheTireDealer.com, I was able to take everything I'd learned from my father and my years in the industry and apply it in a way that excited me. This new venture allowed me to channel my passion for tire sales and online business in a truly meaningful way.

Gratitude and Lessons
I can't emphasize enough how grateful I am for the experiences I gained working with my dad. The lessons he taught me have been invaluable, shaping me into a more rounded person and business owner. I truly believe that working at my dad's tire shop has given me a head start in the industry.
Closing Thoughts
For those who are the children of business owners, working with your parents can be a challenging yet rewarding journey. Use these experiences to grow, both personally and professionally. Embrace the fresh ideas and perspectives you bring to the table as the younger generation. Remember, while your family may have helped start your journey, it's your skills and determination that will take the business to new heights.
In the face of adversity, stay positive and don't let negativity drain your energy. Seize the opportunities before you and make the most of them.
