Inbox is full.
Calendar is full.
You have clients to make appointments with.
Oh and projects? Where to begin? You know your staff has items for you to review, but then they also need assistance on how to complete their new tasks.
And what about that memo sitting in your inbox that you've been needing to review for weeks?
Or how about all of those tax returns ready for your review?
You're overwhelmed. Not sure where to start.
And what do you know, it's already late in the afternoon and you're one, okay maybe two, cups of coffee too deep.
Oh, and by the way, don't forget you have a happy hour, and your kid's baseball game tonight.
You think, if only you could have fewer clients that pay higher fees, your life would be simple.... but right now you need to keep these clients for the income.
And there's no way you have time to actually go out and find these higher paying clients.
So, what do you do?
Automate!
Systems and software offer unique solutions that you should be taking advantage of. If you're intimidated by getting started, I recommend starting small. Automation is like an onion; we can peal back a layer at time.
For example, let's get an automated calendar in place so we eliminate the back and forth of "when are you available?" A great app you can use is Calendly. It integrates nicely with both Google and Outlook calendars.
Next, let's get a project management system in place to get rid of the headache of tracking who is doing what and what is ready for your review. Additionally, this will allow you to focus on top priority projects.
Now that you've seen a few of the benefits of automating simple tasks, let's start automating some of the actual work. For example, you could start with bookkeeping. Today, bookkeeping can be highly automated. There is no need for you to be stuck doing all of the work.
Another thing to consider is getting an automated marketing system in place so you can start generating highly qualified leads, converting them to clients, and then getting rid of your not so great clients.
As you can see, it's a very iterative process. You can start small or big, but regardless, you'll see the benefits. Reduced mental clutter, more energy, and more time. :)
