Worry is causing us to waste precious minutes of the one life we have been given. As calculated in 2019, on average humans live 38,394,292 minutes. Sounds like a lot or maybe not.
But are these minutes quality minutes? If you were to look back at the last 10 minutes and evaluate how you used them, would you have any regrets? If they were your last 10 minutes would you have used them differently? Of course you would, but that is a foolish question to ask.
Many inspirational speakers tell us that we need to live every minute like it’s your last. How absurd is that?! If you followed that advice you’d probably have a mountain of regrets when you discovered that in fact, they were not your last. It is most likely that you have thousands and thousands ahead of you.
What I am trying to convey is that being clear headed, focused, “in the moment” and free from worries and anxiety will allow each minute to be better.
Research tells us that most of us (86%) spend 110 minutes per day worrying about something. That's nearly 3 million of your minutes! Here is the full article.
I have witnessed that almost everyone I know has allowed worry to get in their way. Me included. There are lots of articles, advisors, specialists and therapists who can help us manage our worries allowing us to make the most of our precious minutes.
I find that stepping back and being aware of what is happening, seeing the bigger picture, is one way to help.
So when that worrying feeling begins to flutter in your belly and negative thoughts begin to swirl in your head, step back, take a breath and realize that worry is stealing your minutes. It is worth your while to invest some time to learn how to manage these feelings so you can win back those 110 minutes per day and over 3 million in your lifetime that deserve to be filled with confidence, happiness, accomplishment, friendship, love and laughter.

3 年I have a ritual when worry grabs at me. I allow myself 30 seconds max to have an inner debate on what’s worrying me, what can I control vs what’s out of my hands. When my 30 seconds is up, if I haven’t settled with it rationally, then I have to let it go and move on. I call it clearing out my mind clutter - channeling my inner Marie Kondo :) appreciate you sharing this post Peter!
