Stop Waiting for Permission

LISTEN TO LATEST EPISODE OF ON THE VERGE!

So many of us hold ourselves back in business because we are waiting for someone else to give us permission to do something.

One of the frustrating things that I see happen often is people sitting back waiting for someone to give them permission to make a bold move or waiting for a seat at the table. As an entrepreneur, one of the things that I learned, and had to learn very quickly, or fail, is that every minute you wait is a minute wasted.

Sometimes, you have to give yourself permission to ask those tough questions in business and of the people around you.

Right now in life, and in business, we are in uncharted territory and it requires us to speak up, stand up, and pull up to the table. It is imperative that many of us no longer wait for that perfect time to reach out about that promotion or ask that challenging questions in the boardroom. We are usually seeking that permission because it's an instant guarantee that we can get. It's that support that we yearn for. But if we're always waiting for someone else to give us the okay, then are we really doing anything?

Also, permission doesn't always come from other people. Sometimes, you have to give yourself permission to ask those tough questions in business and of the people around you. In your personal relationships, friendships, as well as maybe with a business partner.

In this latest episode of On the Verge podcast, Tami McQueen and I discuss this and challenge people to make those bold moves and push the boundaries that we have placed on ourselves to move the ball, push the conversation, and change the narrative.

And if you find there isn't a table for you to sit at or pull up to, then make your own damn table!
