As a business we have written many articles about unnecessary packaging being wasteful and harming our environment.?Just look at this shameful example to evidence our point….
The item ordered is a small, plastic part, roughly 1cm in diameter and weighing almost nothing. And yet the retailer has used an excessive amount of packaging when sending it to us. It would be realistic to assume that the material costs for the packaging outweigh the plastic part itself.
So I ask, where is the common sense in that?
As more and more products are now ordered via online retailers, it’s crucial that these items are packaged sensibly, using the least amount of materials. We can all play our part in tackling this problem. Look at the products you purchase and ask ‘is the packaging necessary?’ Can it be reduced?’ It is time to challenge the use of this packaging with those retailers and manufacturers to be more responsible.
Use social media as a tool to make your point known.
It will take a herculean effort to tackle the needless waste in product packaging but it’s everyone’s responsibility to try and deal with it.
