Stop It with the Undecided Voters
I have had it with the talk about the undecided voters that supposedly need just a little bit more information about Kamala Harris before they can make up their minds.
Most independents are not really independent but lean towards one party or the other. Corollary, most undecideds are not really undecideds. If that is so, then towards which side do they lean?
Donald Trump is probably the most polarizing politician on earth right now. It seems clear to me that almost all people have an opinion about him, that is, you love him or you hate him.
I always look at elections as a choice where voters have to pick out of competing options. If you know about January 6, about the mismanagement of COVID and the guilty verdicts in New York, you really need more information and specifics about Kamala Harris before you can make a choice?

If the competition were Joe Biden who is obviously too old to serve four more years, I could understand that the choice is not easy. But Kamala Harris had an impressive legal and political career; she is obviously up to the job. One may not find her particularly appealing, or disagree with her on certain issues, but she spent an important part of her campaign reaching out to exactly such voters, trying to build a bridge for them.
So here’s my take: some of the undecided voters will remain undecided and not vote. As for the rest, if they are still undecided after last night, I think there is reason to believe that many of them are, in fact, hidden Trump voters.
That doesn’t mean that Trump will win. I have a suspicion that pollsters may be overcompensating after having underestimated Trump for many years. But as the Harris campaign, I would consider the chunk of the undecided voters as hidden or undeclared Trump voters and now focus on getting out the vote.
