Stop Trying to Control Everything
The one thing we know is that change is the only constant. Whatever you are feeling at this moment, no matter how painful is temporary. As much as we want to control everything, we can't and believe me, I have tried numerous times.
Instead of trying to control what is out of our control, we need to work on acceptance. Most of my clients hate the word "acceptance." The truth is when something is completely out of your control, the only thing to do is accept.
Acceptance releases the control which reduces stress. The more you resist it, the more it persists. Instead lean into acceptance and see your world calm down and new opportunities blooming.
How to Accept
First, you need to try everything you can to fix or solve the issue. If you don't put the 100% effort into it, you will always have the what ifs? If you give it a 100%, you can feel a sense of peace.
Feel your emotions. Sit with them without judgment. What comes up for you emotionally? physically? Identify and acknowledge it. Breathe through it. It will pass.
After you feel all your emotions, have a good cry or however you release your emotions.
Look back at the situation. What did you learn about yourself? the situation? the lesson?
Take some time to think about what you have control over in your life now. Work on the things you can control- yourself, how you react/respond, who you spend your free time with, what do you do with your free time, etc. This will give you back your sense of power.
Get support - talk it out. Share your story with someone you trust.
