Stop tricking Yourself
Prof. Dr. Jorge R.
President of Academy of Public Policies & Ambassador at United Nations
Even the best of us can be deceived from time to time. Someone comes along and impresses us with magic. Later we find out it wasn't magic, it was just an illusion. Sometimes the problem isn't that someone else is trying to deceive us. Rather, we deceive ourselves. We see what we want to see, regardless of what reality is. Then, when reality starts to creep in, we tell ourselves that if we hold our breath and don't feel what we feel, hope long enough and loud enough, reality will change. We don't need to be angry with ourselves when we fall for a trick, even if it's a self-deception. We need to see and acknowledge the truth and realise what reality is. Don't let the embarrassment of finding yourself in a difficult situation affect the way you see yourself. Sometimes all we need to do is acknowledge the facts, including how we really feel. In a few days or months, the problem will be solved. When all the illusions are gone, that's when the real magic begins. You will be guided on your own path.
