Stop Treating Your Health as a Side Hustle!

Stop Treating Your Health as a Side Hustle!

As a coach, I've had the pleasure of working with some extremely successful executives and entrepreneurs. And the one thing that never ceases to amaze me is how often these individuals neglect their health in the pursuit of their goals.

So I'm here to make a bold statement: Stop treating your health as a side hustle!

Yes, I know you're busy. I know you have a lot on your plate. But the truth is, you can't be truly successful if you're not taking care of yourself. Your health is not a luxury or a frivolous expense—it is the fundamental building block of your long-term success.

Think about it: when you're healthy, you have more energy, more focus, and more creativity. You're better able to handle stress and make good decisions. You're more resilient, more confident, and more productive. In short, you're better equipped to handle the challenges and opportunities that come your way.

But when you neglect your health, the opposite is true. You're tired, sluggish, and unfocused. You're more prone to illness and injury. You're less able to handle stress and make good decisions. And over time, your physical and mental health will deteriorate, making it harder and harder to achieve your goals.

So why do so many successful people treat their health as a side hustle? There are a few reasons:

First, many people believe that success requires sacrifice, and that sacrificing their health is just part of the deal. But the truth is, sacrificing your health will only hurt your chances of success in the long run.

Second, many people simply don't prioritise their health because they only see short-term pain and inconvenience. It's labelled a chore, rather than an investment in their future.

Finally, many people are simply overwhelmed by the demands of their work and personal lives, and they don't know where to start when it comes to taking care of themselves.

But here's the thing: taking care of your health doesn't have to be complicated or time-consuming. You don't need to spend hours in the gym or hire a personal chef. All you need to do is make it a priority, and start small.

Here are a few simple tips to get you started:

  • Schedule regular exercise into your calendar, just like you would a meeting or a deadline. Even if it's just 30 minutes a day, make it non-negotiable.
  • Prioritise sleep. More is better but not always possible, so aim to improve sleep quality. Get outside for 10mins in the morning, no caffeine after lunch, limit alcohol, dim the lights in the evening, and don't eat or exercise too close to bedtime.
  • Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Avoid processed foods and sugary drinks.
  • Make time for relaxation and stress relief. Whether it's meditation, yoga, or just taking a walk in nature, find something that helps you unwind and make it a regular habit.

Are you ready to relentlessly prioritise your health? If so, I would like to challenge you to make a commitment to yourself right now...

Write down one thing you're going to do today to take care of your health, and then do it. Whether it's going for a walk, drinking more water, or taking a few minutes every hour to stand up and move. Every small step counts

Remember, your health is not a side hustle. It's a fundamental part of your success. So make it a priority, and watch as your energy, focus, and productivity soar.

Definitely, Owen! It's so so important to prioritise health. I feel like if we identify what to do and what not to do we can set our priorities and boundaries.

Absolutely agree! Prioritizing your health is crucial for achieving sustainable high performance in all areas of life. It can be easy to get caught up in the day-to-day tasks and forget about our own well-being. Writing down and committing to one small action every day is a great way to start building healthy habits. It could be as simple as taking a short walk during a break or choosing a healthy snack over junk food. Every small step counts towards a healthier and more productive life. Keep up the great work!

The best step you can take is the first one. After that you gain more momentum and you start seeking new ways you can prioritise your health! I certainly resonate with taking some time to get up and move throughout the day, if I sit down for too long at my screen my body definitely tells me ??
