Stop thinking branding is just a logo!
Branding has evolved ??
I’ve been in the design world for almost five years now, and thank goodness, branding has shifted. It’s not just about fonts and colours anymore, it’s about the how and why. Branding is finally being recognised for what it truly is: an experience, a living, breathing entity that grows with your business.
And yet, many brands still think it's all about the logo. Spoiler alert: it’s not.
Sometimes it just doesn’t land...
In recent years, we’ve seen some rebrands that just didn’t land. You know the ones I mean... The “woke” rebrands that tried to jump on the latest trends without truly aligning with the brand's core values. Take, for example *cough, cough* the Jaguar rebrand. While it sparked conversation, it left people confused and, to be honest, a bit disappointed.
Sure, it got people talking, but was it the right kind of conversation? That’s the thing about rebranding; it’s about what’s underneath the surface. You can’t just slap a trendy look on a brand and call it a day. It’s the strategy behind the visual transformation that really counts.
You can’t please everyone, and you shouldn’t try to??
Let’s face it: you can’t please everyone. In the digital age, where every keyboard warrior has an opinion, it’s almost impossible to avoid criticism. And honestly? You shouldn’t try to. The reality is, there will always be those who don’t get it, or those who disagree – and that’s okay.
What you can control is how you show up. Don’t fear change. Embrace it. Change is how we grow. It’s how we push boundaries and evolve.
As Steve Jobs once said, “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” So, take risks. Be brave. Because change isn’t something to be feared, it’s the fuel that drives progress.

Branding starts with strategy ??
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worked with clients who came to me thinking they just needed a new logo. What they didn’t realise was that a true rebrand starts long before we touch any visuals. It’s about digging deep into the heart of the business, understanding the company’s mission, vision, and values – that’s where a successful brand strategy starts.
Brand workshops, onboarding, and discovery calls aren’t just nice-to-haves, they’re must-haves. They’re the foundation that helps guide every decision from here on out. You wouldn’t build a house without a solid foundation, right? Branding is no different.
Treat your brand like a person ??
Here’s my secret to great branding: treat your brand like a person. A real, living, breathing person. Think about how they would interact with the world. How would they show up every day? How would they engage with others? When you think of your brand as a person, suddenly, everything changes. You start to make choices that align with that personality.
After all, people resonate with people - not logos (unless you're a designer).
Change is not the enemy
Now, let’s talk about real change. Rebranding isn’t just about visuals – it’s about a mindset shift. This year, my goal is to make sure clients understand that a solid brand strategy is everything. A good strategy guides you through the entire process – from discovery calls to workshops to final implementation. It’s a journey. And it’s a journey that shouldn’t be rushed.
“Without change, there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement.” – That’s a quote from the brilliant motivator, Muhammad Ali.
If you get it right, from the inside out, you end up with something so much more powerful than a new logo. You get an identity. You get a brand that has purpose. And when you show up with that authenticity? That’s when the magic happens.
