Stop telling yourself it is hard

Some clients tell me it is hard to achieve their goals.?

In the short run, I get it. The discomfort of changing habits won't feel great.? But in the long run, establishing habits that are in alignment with the life you want to live will be well worth the discomfort of change than the discomfort of submitting to a less than ideal situation.?

I think it is harder to fake that you are happy than to go for pure joy.? It's harder to tolerate a job than find one you adore. It is harder to continue to fight in a marriage instead of learning how to communicate. It is harder to hate how you look in clothes than to reshape your body. It is harder to be exhausted every day than to live a life in alignment with your values. it is harder to pretend than to be honest. I'd rather go for a goal and fail than swim in place and accept the status quo. You??

Then goal setting is the short cut to the boost you seek.? Why?? ?

Working toward a goal is beneficial for one's mental health in several ways:

  1. Sense of Purpose: Having a goal gives you a sense of direction and purpose in life. It provides motivation to get up in the morning and strive towards something meaningful.
  2. Boost in Self-Esteem: Making progress towards your goals, no matter how small, can boost your self-confidence and self-esteem. Achieving milestones gives you a sense of accomplishment.
  3. Reduced Stress: Goals can act as a positive distraction from daily stressors. They provide a focus that can help you manage anxiety and worries more effectively.
  4. Improved Focus and Clarity: Setting goals requires planning and prioritization, which can improve your ability to focus and make clear decisions.
  5. Enhanced Resilience: Working towards goals often involves overcoming obstacles and setbacks. This process can build resilience and the ability to cope with challenges.
  6. Sense of Control: Goals give you a sense of control over your life and circumstances. This can be empowering, especially in uncertain times.

It's crucial to set goals that are challenging yet achievable, and to approach them with a balanced mindset that prioritizes overall well-being.

And, breaking them down into 30 day segments does wonders for actually crossing the finish line.?

And, we all know when we have accountability partners we are far more likely to do what we say we want to do -?shift what we eat, move our bodies, apply for the jobs, unclutter the drawer, leave work when you say you will, save the money, make the money, call your mom.?
