Stop and Take in The View

Stop and Take in The View

Okay, okay, okay. I know you might be scrolling around on LinkedIn - just checking in. Looking for something. But what is it?

I find myself logging onto LinkedIn daily and catch myself scrolling. Why? It's a habit, I guess. I log on, check my emails, check my LinkedIn. But naturally, as you do, I find myself scrolling. And I guess that is what it is all designed for. It is interesting to keep a pulse on my network and see who's up to what and where they're moving and grooving.

But today, I stopped.

You see, it all becomes a wheel if we don't stop. And take ourselves out of the pattern, and take in the view. I mean quite literally and quite figuratively.

So this is me, stopping and taking in the view. Writing and contemplating and ironically, giving you something to pass by when you scroll. But hopefully, you feel the invitation to stop, too. And take in your view. Whether you're in the symbolic valley of your journey right now or if you are experiencing a peak and can actually see a new vista from here.

Let's take a step back from our lives. From our daily doings. And zoom out a bit. And just a little more. And a little more. Can you see your life yet? Can you see the home you live in? And the people you connect with on the daily? Can you witness yourself waking up and doing all that you do in the morning? And drinking your coffee. And preparing for your day. Can you see how you move about the day? Where is your focus? How quickly do you move from one thing to the next? How much time do you spend in between things grabbing your phone as habitual? Have you zoomed out enough yet to see where you are?

I find that we have become so focused on the next. The next thing. The next day. The next meal. The next promotion. But let me whisper a little something into your ear - we are never guaranteed a day. And you will never have any moment again. That's right. The dinner you had last night with your love will never happen again in the way that it did. You will never be this exact version of yourself again.

And I don't hold this perspective to live a life from lack or scarcity. I share it because I have found that it allows me to lean alllllll the way into the magic that is here to be harvested in each and every moment. Truly. Every single one.

I truly believe that we live in a friendly universe. And if I hold this over-arching belief for life, then every little thing of each day is like adding little spices into the stew that is my life. As long as I put myself in the river of flow every day, I can trust that it is all leading me to exactly where I am meant to be: always right fucking here.

If you allow yourself to lean back, and trust that the very inherent nature of life - the mystery - is landing you exactly as you're meant to land. And the exact version of you you're meant to be. All the accomplishments come from you showing up in the ways that you do. Simmer, simmer, simmer. And trust. And take a deep belly breath in. And another one. You are doing amazing. You are amazing.

So can you do something today to harvest presence? To really be able to view this snapshot of where you are right now in life?

Like watching the way the leaves blow in the wind on the trees outside your window. Or asking your partner new questions over dinner. And putting your phone away every night from 8PM onward.

It's time for us all to take our lives back from the daily distractions that take us inherently out of the very magic that is at our fingertips.
