If you see this bird and you can say it is not a crow that's because you are seeing its picture. The crow can easily pose for you without being threatened and hence its identity is very much impressed in your eyes and mind. However, there are many such birds that are around you but they don't pose. To see them you have to take out time from your busy schedule and pause and cherish whatever little nature exists around you. We don't get used to the presence of wildlife around us and their existence is taken for granted. But what is happening that we are so busy in our day to day life that we don't stop and stare. It's not necessary to know the name of the bird, insect, butterfly, etc. as much as cherishing the variety of nature around you.
World wildlife day was also started to raise awareness about wildlife. Why 3rd march you may ask, is because it is "the day of signature of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973 ". Although many such days have brought awareness in this world, small steps towards bringing people close to nature, and think about their responsibility to save planet earth, it largely becomes just another day if every human doesn't pause and start recognizing wildlife around him/her.
There are many stray dogs and you don't bother about them while driving around or while running for your job etc. But when one such stray dog greets you when you reach your society gate and one day you don't see it you start wondering what happened to it. Guess the same logic applies to your wildlife, nature around your vicinity which you see whenever you are relaxing while having your cup of tea or coffee. You will relate to the tree flowering and wonder why it is not flowering this winter. And then when someone tells you due to climate change then you might feel like searching for a solution.
It's the responsibility of all of us to preserve nature and protect Earth. Like you take out time for your loved ones, make that call to your mother, on this wildlife week, I request make that short pause and appreciate mother nature every day. It will bring a lot of change to this planet.
