Stop Silencing your Career Superpowers!

Diving right in today with a story from this week.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Jane.

A woman brimming with skill, talent, and determination, finding herself confined within the four walls of a role that consistently urges her to "stay in her lane."

Her company, blind to her exceptional capabilities, has turned her into a 9am-5pm robot, which is so clearly out of sync with her natural tendencies and values.

The recently trending term “Quiet Quitting” - essentially is silencing her and downplaying her skills.

Simply ticking the boxes from 9 to 5 - just isn’t cutting it.

But why?

Why Quiet Quitting doesn't work for Jane (and maybe, You?):

?? Suppresses Potential: Your talents are bubbling under the surface, eager for an opportunity to show case them, yet continually being shot down - means you stop trying altogether.

?? Misalignment of Values: Sacrificing who you are at your core, your values constantly compromised. You start doubting yourself and second guessing your abilities.

?? Long-term Unhappiness: When you veer off your intended path for too long, it leads to discontentment and dissatisfaction. No longer living a full, vibrant life.

?? Confidence is knocked: All of these lead to a feeling that your confidence has been chipped away at, it's got to you on a deep rooted mindset level. You're Inner Critic is rampantly running the show.

If this is starting to sound all too familiar, read on to see that you are not resigned to this fate forever...

What to Do Instead?

? Advocate for Yourself: Begin internal conversations about your role, showcasing your untapped skills and how they can benefit the organisation.

? Explore Alternatives: Look beyond your current role - could a side hustle, a new project, or even a career shift be the answer?

? Seek Support: No need to navigate this journey alone. A coach or mentor can provide insights and strategies you might not see. Seeking independent support, where the only agenda is your career, is the fastest way to move beyond career dissatisfaction and get you back on the path to thriving and fulfilment.

Jane's journey back to alignment is just beginning, and I can't wait to see what the next couple of months hold for her. I know from experience it will be enlightening, enjoyable and empowering!

If you can see a little glimpse of yourself in Jane's experience, why not see if having someone on your personal board of Directors can move you back on the path to career success?
