Uncertainty is what fuels procrastination.?
You might understand the end goal.?
But if you don't understand the steps in between... then there's a good chance your mind will want to drift elsewhere.?
No matter when procrastination arises...?
It helps to admit that you find the task challenging.?
And this is because you raise self-awareness, which allows you to think of solutions.?
Our brains struggle with effortful thinking and breaking things down.?
What's easy for many can be very difficult for us.?
You've got to ask yourself these 2 things:
If the answer is no for both, try breaking things down.?
"But I'm not motivated to do the task James".
There is a link between motivation and clarity. When we have clarity on what we do, our motivation increases.?
The difficulty lies in focusing on the end goal only. In doing this, we feed our dopamine-starved brain. But we forget to think about the bits in between.?
How many times have you written out a to-do list, prioritised what you need to do with the important tasks at the top, but then started on something else, and at the end of the day, you beat yourself up about it because you didn't finish what you set out?
Bet this happens a lot.
The reason is that those lower-priority tasks meet your conditions and elements' guidelines.?
You have:
Nail the mechanics of the task - and you will execute it.?
And important to know:
You are not lazy or unmotivated.?
Your brain manual is not the same as most neurotypicals.?
Learn the rules - and you'll stop the self-blame.?
