Stop The Sales Pitches..
I know Linkedin is mainly used to promote sales.. Whether it be the education or betterment of acquisition or pitches themselves. But why? So many people see through stuff. I know this may make many of you chuckle but.. personally, I'm tired of the sales pitches.
I'm tired of the avoidance of consumer protection and the protection of online sales tactics. As an entrepreneur, like you, I too am intrigued by the sales funnels and the delicacies of persuasion – chasing the fast-trackment of success. But that's not it.
I'm tired of businesses FEELING as if they have to convince potential buyers. People are not numbers that simply have to misled long enough to profit off of or close one time. Ie: Car salesmen. Instead of being able to find a company with true integrity, people are learning how to settle with the most honest salesman.
This is insanity. Aggressive tactics fueled by this idea of "success" at one's expense is not OK. Is not power/influence the aiming point? The ability to gain by one's ability to make another give?
Why? Do people not realize once this is recognized, loyalty is farfetched? By definition, success doesn't equate fulfillment. If you started a business for a reason, passion or purpose why are you chasing the dollar and expecting satisfaction? Why are we listening to people that always thirst for more?
Why do we encourage people to go into business to take advantage of or exploit a need in the market? Why are people allowed to make money off the training of this? Why aren't there more programs for consumer driven product reviews or routine assessments for potential scams? Should organizations with terrible customer reviews be allowed the same benefits and advantages as 5 star companies? Why is the transparency of the actual customer experience limited in a digital world?
Why are prices hidden until checkout – leveraging the laziness of consumers that convenience has driven? Why is it nearly impossible to estimate resort fees and compare bookings? Why is the term "organic" so loosely used? Should people have to trust an ad? Why is it so easy to blame the consumer for bad decisions even if it cost them all they had? Why is "hard work" stupid? Why is learning how to look like an expert seen as better than becoming one?
Why is the foundation of a new company rarely predicated on satisfying a need instead of simply filling one? Why are non-medical "experts" making medicine? Who's stopping someone from persuading a teenager they need psychic services for the rest of their life? Or that a baby needs a spinal realignment on a regular basis to remain healthy?
When are businesses going to truly start listening to and caring about people? Like, for real for real. I mean, it's OK to care a lot about the future of your business – BUT the future of your business relies on the satisfaction of the hand that feeds you.
If you find yourself spending more time on sales right now because business is slow, the solution may be to simply listen to hear and not to sell.. I know the world tells you differently but from my experience, a firm foundation is far better.
If you truly ask yourself what you're chasing then you'll be able to trek your own path instead of exhausting yourself trying to duplicate someone else's.
Just my opinion.
