Stop Providing Value and Do This Instead

Stop Providing Value and Do This Instead

See look, I think "value" is arguably one of the most overused, highly played-out words in social media nowadays. Alex Hormozi, all the big guys—value, value, provide value, value, value, value, value. But what does that even mean? And if you actually know what value is, are you even providing it in the right way?

I see a lot of people dropping content like "The six best tips to do this" or "How to do XYZ thing" or "The best exercises for that." And it's not like this is bad. It's not inherently wrong. But we need to redefine what value actually is. You need to cover three key things to make sure you're actually providing value in the right way.

1. Can They Make Money or Progress with This Value?

Because here's the truth—most people say they’re giving value, but realistically, they’re holding back. They’re giving their worst pieces of information while keeping the best stuff locked away for their clients. But let me ask you this: How are you going to get clients if you're not showing them you're an expert? If you’re not giving them real, tangible value that actually gets them results?

Your content needs to be so good that I consume your free stuff, I execute on it, and I see progress in my life, business, or health—whatever you’re selling. And then I think, "Wow, this guy is an expert because I applied his free value and actually got results."

And what happens next? When I actually need serious help, when I don’t want to go through the trial-and-error process again, when I don’t want to piece together small bits of information and hope it works—I go straight to you. You’ve got to give your best stuff. Every YouTube video, every post, every piece of content—I don’t hold back. Why? Because we operate under the law of reciprocity. What goes around comes around.

If I give you real, undeniable value, you naturally feel a sense of trust and loyalty towards me. You know, "This guy gave me something that worked for free—when I need real help, I know exactly who to go to." That’s how you turn free content into paying clients.

2. Is It Actionable? Can They Apply It?

It’s all well and good saying, "Do XYZ," but can they realistically implement it into their life? This goes back to point one—if it’s not actionable, they won’t see progress, and if they don’t see progress, they won’t trust you enough to buy from you. Your content has to be practical, not just theoretical.

3. Can It Save Them Time?

This is key. Too many people throw out content like, "The six best ways to do this," "The five best strategies for that," "The four things you need to know about this." But the problem is, now they have six things to try, five things to test, four things to execute—all without knowing which one is actually the most effective.

What you want to do instead is say: "I tried this. I went on this journey. I tested these things. Here’s what actually worked, and here’s what didn’t." You give them the clear, step-by-step pathway to solving their problem. That’s real value. That’s what makes people trust you.

Solve Problems, Not Just Provide "Value"

Solve people's problems. If you solve their problems within your free content, best believe when they come down the funnel, they’re not just leads—they’re buyers. You’ve built trust, goodwill, and proof that you know what you’re talking about. That’s what turns viewers and followers into paying clients.
