STOP Perfectly Unethical Behaviour at the CRA
Public Servants have sworn duties to the people of Canada. One of the foremost and most clearly defined is their Duty of Care, which is just like it sounds: They have a duty to ensure no unwarranted harm comes to you or I out of the actions they take.
My story clearly shows that the CRA, without any cause, took upon themselves a Duty to Destroy both me and my company. That company was a pre-revenue R&D company developing national border security and was funded by my after-tax savings. An obviously compliant circumstance.
To ensure this never happens again, Canadians must insist that the underlying motivations for CRA actions be fully exposed. If you take the time to look at the ugly details, you will see how badly Canada is in need of complete tax reform, a huge but necessary undertaking.
And where would we start? A citizen’s ownership of our medical files, complete with data and related findings, was enshrined by our Supreme Court in 1993. This has expanded our control and the options for treatment extensively. And this should be our right across all our bureaucratic files, but particularly at the CRA.
There can be no compromise. Our data is being viewed through a distorted lens based on an assumption we are tax cheats. What gives any petty bureaucrat the right to approach any fellow Canadian on such arrogant terms? How could anyone ensure Duty of Care when their overriding assumption colours us all as their adversaries?
Folks, these people work for us. They need to acknowledge that our data belongs to us and then make it readily accessible. Anything that can be done with our confidential medical files can certainly be done with our tax files too. And access is everything in defending against any Abuse of Power.
Talk with your MP. Tell them we want our ownership of our CRA data enshrined, and ease of access to those files ensured.
