Fortunately, the time we thought multitasking was an effective way to work is over.
Multitasking might be one of the greatest success inhibitors of all time.
The more focused you are in doing a task, the more creative you will be, and the faster you will execute it.
Multitasking intentionally might be off the menu for most people, but many people are still doing it unconsciously.
We constantly have several programs running in our heads. Our attention is scattered.
Scattered attention is an inhibitor for connecting with others.
Is your attention for the full 100% on the important task that needs your creativity and intelligence?
Often, when we’re working on a task that needs focus, we let others interrupt us.
When you’re in a meeting with someone, is your attention 100 percent with that person?
Your conversational partner (unconsciously) can always tell.
A major tool for one-pointed attention?
Your phone in airplane mode.
Turning the sound off on your phone helps. But having your phone in airplane mode gives you (unconsciously) far more ease and rest.
When it's in airplane mode, your mind accepts that there won't be a new message coming in.
Then you can be more present with the task or person you want to focus on.
Several hours (or days) of my phone in airplane mode are the biggest catalyst for me getting shit done and getting insight into the next leverage drivers for company performance.
And who do you think is more valued as a leader? The leader with his phone on the table or the leader with his phone in his pocket?
