Stop for a moment and fix it

Stop for a moment and fix it

Have you ever tried riding a bicycle with deflated tires? How easy was it to ride? Okay, how about working with a blunt kitchen knife or axe? It is always easy for us to drive our car anywhere we want, but if the car gets broken, like the engine not working, it won’t take us anywhere. I have tried using a faulty can opener. It was such a bad experience. The effort was not worth it. When things are not in good shape, they don’t serve us optimally or they don’t even serve us at all.

Here is a question. Why do we keep using things that are broken, and still expecting them to serve us well? Better still, why do we live with broken things in our lives and around us, and expecting great outcomes from life? If your relationship with those that matter to you is broken, then fix it. If your heart is broken, fix it. If your career is broken, fix it. If your life is broken, fix it. If anything is broken, stop for a moment and fix it. Do not keep working with it when it is broken. It will waste your time.

Sometimes, fixing what is broken would require that we work with other people or get help. If you need help to fix what is broken, ask for help. Whatever is the case, we must restore whatever is not working properly. The reason is simple. Optimum working conditions promote efficiency. For example, if your relationship with your family is intact, you will do many great things together. But if it is broken, you will not accomplish much together.

It is time for restoration; time for reinstating anything that is out of place. It is time for repair, to make things sound and whole. Give yourself an opportunity to accomplish much by stopping for a moment to fix whatever is broken.

Thank you for this timely reminder. It is sometimes hard to fix situations, but I agree that it is rewarding to do so.
