Stop Making things Difficult, make it a play & just have fun doing it!

First of all, thank you so much for your constant support on LinkedIn. It's been a while since I published an article here. Life has been incredibly busy with good work, and amidst the hustle and bustle, I realized that, shall I question myself I had been procrastinating, Hmm, No, not really! And this realization struck a chord with me.?

We often see influencers and websites offering methods to beat procrastination, but there are some aspects no one talks about. In this article, I want to dive into three things about procrastination or it is?not procrastination (more deeper it is,?yeah), that rarely gets discussed.

Before we get into that, I would want to remind you about our upcoming?New Code NLP Practitioner Course, happening offline in Pune from 23rd to 30th August 2024. "Oh god! Was I unproductive all day and didn't get much done. Am I really gonna make it? Am I not consistent enough? Am I procrastinating?"?

How many times a day do these thoughts cross your mind? If you're like most people, probably a couple of times. Here are 5 lesser-known insights about procrastination:

  1. It's Not Your Plan:?We are not procrastinating, in the world of media and influencers, many of the people end up doing what they visually find appealing for some time. If I like a character in the movie by KJ, doesn't mean that from tomorrow I will start being just that, until I have checked inside with myself (Really deep inside myself) that this is what I want - Is that what I want? If you're following someone else's plan, your brain loses interest very fast. Imagine you want to lose 5 kg in a month and follow a fitness influencer who recommends strength training, but you prefer running. This disconnect can lead to procrastination because you're not doing what you enjoy,?what you want. To stay to your goals & self-motivated, create a plan that aligns with your interests and goals.
  2. Perfectionism Paralysis: I seriously thank god that I am overcoming this one! I know we all want to come out as if we cannot commit any mistakes! I get that, but hey, I think while I have been growing so fast in the last 4 years especially, may be?I would have done something that is say 10% less perfect (according to me) , but did I move ahead, yes!? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Did it made me learn entrepreneurship & life - YES!!!?Often, we procrastinate because we're afraid of not doing something perfectly. This fear can be paralyzing and prevent us from even starting or leaving it half way through!?Accepting that it's okay to make mistakes and focusing on progress with everyday?Gratitude, rather than perfection can help overcome this every day!??
  3. Get more internal Reward System instead of external: Do you know some people do like immediate rewards. I think this has gone highly up because of social media. It's quiet simple, people receive dopamine, the moment they receive a response on their posts and it kicks like a drug. And now there is news also?to go on Dopamine Detox!? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Our brains are wired to seek immediate gratification. When we procrastinate, it's often because the task at hand doesn't offer an immediate reward. Let's say I target an event that I know will take at least 4-5 months to accomplish, there could be moments in between that might lead to procrastination because some of the tasks require admin, which I am personally not great at, and I really need to reach there. I do a small?trick, by breaking tasks into smaller, manageable chunks and rewarding myself personally for completing each step. And I prefer that everyday, isn't it a better option to be in the game every day!! A little tricking your brain to stay motivated can work.?
  4. The FAT THING - I wanna talk about - CLARITY is the biggest reason for procrastination -?I’ve said this a thousand times, and I’ll say it again: set your intentions and get clear about your goals. Without clarity, knowing what you want and how to achieve it will be challenging. Clarity guides you in taking the right steps toward your tasks and goals.?

Yes, I cannot stop saying that Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and New Code NLP are powerful tools that help you clear the mental clutter and gain clarity on your objectives. These techniques enable you to focus, remove distractions, and align your actions with your goals.

Imagine having a clear path laid out before you. Every step you take is purposeful and directed towards achieving your dreams. With clarity, you are no longer overwhelmed by options or paralyzed by uncertainty. Instead, you are empowered to make decisive, confident moves.

5. Secret I learned - We take?Stress of Commitment?- Let's be real: Our lack of mental state is the root cause of our procrastination. What I mean is this: Reframe from I am not delaying my work, "Reframe this to "I am lacking the state of mind to work".?

The most significant aspect of procrastination is the "mental stress/state of mind" we feel about the effort required to achieve our goals.?

Think about it this way: The moment you commit things with motivation, behind that do you conquer that you are carrying a belief "ab bahut kaam karna PADEGA?" This future tense with need?- "need to do more work" is the killer one!?

This creates a neural pathway of hiding because there are efforts required and those efforts are equivalent to a lot of them,?too much of them,?I mean we are very good at creating "Rai ka pahad", creating a small little thing big in our mind.?

Our brain releases stress when we commit to any action because we think about how much hard work is needed to complete a goal or task. This happens because our brain doesn't have?another model or another example. We have conditioned programming and according to the?examples, we need to do a lot of hard work and efforts! Certainly, we will put efforts but what if we put efforts like playing with it!! "So don't try hard, play with it!" (This is my everyday secret, there is nothing to lose, because nothing is mine anyways, my job is to do, and his job is to give for me just to continue my play, that's all!)

I would be happy if you can use all these simple things in life and repeat with me, there is nothing called procastination, I just need to:

- Decide what I want (not what other are doing)?

- Get my States?

- Do like playing, no perfection & no expectation?

- Reward self with gratitude?

- Repeat doing again the next day like a child!!?
