STOP making these mistakes while writing a book!!!

STOP making these mistakes while writing a book!!!

Here are some points to keep in mind.

  • Don’t start using heavy weight words and show off your vocabulary unnecessarily. It becomes very annoying for the reader to keep consulting a dictionary or Google every time that they read.

(If you want to show off your vocab then remember that your audience will narrow down significantly, as, only a particular set of people prefer to read non-lucid texts).

  • Don’t use fonts that readers can barely make out. Keep it clean.

  • Don’t start publishing on every platform that you happen to come across. Understand the pricing of your book and choose your platform accordingly.

  • Don’t ‘over promote’ yourself in your books. An author’s page with the relevant links is going to be good enough.

  • Don’t use pictures in your book unless you have the rights to it. I’ve seen a lot of authors get into trouble later on, because of this. Use royalty free pictures or get proper licensed ones if you want to use them badly.

  • Make sure that you have clarity about your genre and that you stick to it. Don’t end up classifying your Crime Thriller as a Satire just because your book has some dark humor associated with it.

  • Make sure you hit the maturity marking (18+) if your books happen to have ‘not so clean’ content. This also includes usage of slangs across your book.

  • Keep the formatting of your book in such a way that people can understand things easily.

  • Be wise if you’re writing a political book or a Satire. You don’t want to spread hate through them. You are free to voice your opinions, but you don’t want to turn off your reader. Get your facts in check.

  • Proof-read your books thoroughly. Don’t end up having multiple spelling errors here and there.

  • Ensure that your margins are perfect and your text is aligned properly. You wouldn’t want your text to get cut out from the edges.

??

That’s all for today.?Make sure that you’re keeping these things in mind.

Still need help? Let me know. I’ll help you out. Yup, for free.
