Stop the madness

As I work writing a new book on global affairs, I am saddened by events in the last week and the continuation of global violence. On Saturday the violence in Charlottesville, VA and the killing in Barcelona, Spain today is unacceptable. Every few days the are major issues of violence taking place. This is not who we are as a civil society . We have evolved beyond violence and we can sit down and work out our difference. It is healthy to have strong and varied opinions, to see things from different perspectives, but it is not acceptable to kill each other for any reason. For those who say we cannot reason with some, that they have been doing this forever and will always resort to violence, you are not part of the solution. We have to find every way possible to engage people in a non-confrontational way. If we blame history, then history will keep repeating itself. Let's all work towards a future that has no place and acceptance of violence.
