Stop Knocking on Doors—Start Walking Through

Stop Knocking on Doors—Start Walking Through

We’ve all been there—standing in front of a door, knocking, waiting, and hoping someone on the other side will open it. Whether it’s seeking an opportunity, approval, or a connection, knocking feels like the polite and expected thing to do. But at some point, don’t we have to ask ourselves: Why knock when you can just open the door and walk in?

This isn’t about being intrusive or disregarding boundaries; it’s about shifting our mindset from passive hopefulness to active participation in our own lives.

The Cost of Knocking

Knocking on doors is exhausting. It’s a pattern rooted in fear: fear of rejection, fear of stepping out of line, fear of being “too much.” We wait for permission to shine, delaying our own progress because we’re conditioned to think someone else holds the key to our success.

But here’s the truth: The longer you knock, the more you undervalue your own power. Each knock is a moment wasted when you could have walked in and made your presence known.

What Holds Us Back

  1. Self-Doubt: “What if I’m not good enough?”
  2. Fear of Judgement: “What will people think?”
  3. Conditioned Modesty: “Shouldn’t I wait my turn?”
  4. Misplaced Respect: “I don’t want to overstep.”

While these thoughts may feel valid, they often mask a deeper truth: we’re scared of taking control. We’re scared of what might happen if we’re no longer waiting but doing.

The Power of Walking In

Walking in doesn’t mean barging in. It means stepping into your own power, recognizing your worth, and boldly claiming your space.

  • Know Your Value: Stop seeking external validation. You bring unique skills, perspectives, and talents to the table.
  • Redefine Permission: The only permission you need is your own.
  • Act with Confidence: Confidence isn’t arrogance—it’s clarity. Be clear about what you want and why you deserve it.

When I Decided to Stop Knocking

For years, I found myself knocking—on doors, on opportunities, on relationships. Each unanswered knock made me question myself. But then it hit me: What am I waiting for? The door wasn’t locked. It never was.

I started walking in—showing up fully as myself, presenting my ideas with conviction, and seizing opportunities rather than waiting for them to fall into my lap. And guess what? The world didn’t end. In fact, it expanded.

Your Invitation to Walk Through

You don’t need to wait for the perfect moment, the perfect words, or someone to extend an invitation. The door is already open.

So, stop knocking. Walk in. You belong here. And when you do, you’ll inspire others to stop waiting and start living.

What’s stopping you from walking in today? Let’s talk about it. Drop your thoughts at GoInwards.org. Let’s open those doors together. ???
