STOP hiring employees
Stop hiring employees. This world no longer needs them.
We no longer need employees, and great talents do not need to be your employees. They deserve something much better.
So, if you hire someone to tell her/him what to do and she/he says "yes" all the time, you didn't make a good choice, trust me. If she / he does what she/he is asked to do without telling you that it is not the best thing for the company, well, that's the first stage of failure.
Someone said that selection is 95 percent of success in management, and that is absolutely true. Talents need to be discovered, nurtured, and supported, that’s sometimes the real challenge.
We can't handle anything in this crazy world without great talents. Great talents need their freedom, their time, their creativity, and their strength to express themselves. And yes, you need to have faith and be sure that they will make the right choice and if they make mistakes, educate them, let them understand what can be done differently next time and give them guidance. As a result, they will also become great decision makers and, believe me, when you have a great talent who can also be a decision maker, your business will be run by a pool of entrepreneurs. And this is what companies need.
Let your talents be free to express their passion, motivation, take BIG risks and make BIG mistakes. This is part of the process. This process will take the company to the “promised land” where you will have a team of entrepreneurs, leaving you free to focus on the few things you will need to ensure the growth of the company. I know it is not easy but if your company does not grow, it is your fault, not your employees’, being a leader and commander no longer works. Organizations need to be fast, hundreds of small decisions need to be made "yesterday" and we, as CEOs, are very often the least prepared people to make extremely specific decisions, we need collaborators who tell us how and what to do.
The first major obstacle to improving this transformation is ourselves. We are afraid of losing control, but it is when you lose control that you no longer need to control anything. You will have a team of fantastic captains to sail with you in the storm.

3 年Totally agree with this thought. On the contrary, going on in the opposite direction, isolating or neglecting people's purposes who try some change, tends to hold someone down more and more. Whoever has ideas or expectations for improving somehow something, eventually gives it up because of that lack of attention which that strength should deserves, with a double negative effect not to change actual situation and holding down who tries to do it.

3 年This is by far the best and real post that I read on LK in the last year !! I shared every single word , but I’m afraid that this mindset is not possible in Italy . So hard to find someone to think in this way ! Old management school is still alive , and talents will remain simple employees until they will decided to leave the country to make success ! Alessio Lorusso you touch a great point .
Very well written! Thank you for sharing.
