Stop chasing likes and attention

Stop chasing likes and attention

I get it. Likes and attention give you that warm fuzzy feeling.

You'll see loads of LinkedIn bros saying that they can get you 100,000,000 likes which will be amazing for your business.

It wont.

If you're chasing likes, you tend to create content for the masses. The viral shit you see all the time that makes people agree with you.

Which ultimately, gets you absolutely 0 enquiries. Which translates to exactly fck all business.

Instead, you need to create content for one person. Your ideal client.

Cast your mind back to your first meeting with your favourite client. What did you say to them? What did they ask you? Why did they choose you to speak with? What made them give you money?

That is your content.

Because you can bet that people like them are suffering from the same problem. Which means you need to highlight the same things, answer the same questions, explain what makes you amazing, and tell them why they should give you money.

On the face of it, this sounds easy, right?

It's not. Because people fall into the trap of either going way too complicated with their writing, or forgetting that they are talking to a person. Singular.

The other benefit of talking to one person with your content is that you can send it to people who you think hit your ideal client.

Example: Create a bit of content that gives 3 bits of advice that you know fixes the problem your ideal client has.

Send that to 50 people over the course of a week, explaining what it is, but without sending a sales pitch.

And watch what happens.

Then do the same the following week. And the week after that. And the week after that.

Then do it every week until the end of time.

Every bit of content you create on the business side of things should allow you to use it in this way.

If it doesn't, you're talking to too many people.

Speaking directly to one person is more powerful than broadly addressing 100.
