I received this annoying email this morning. It followed an incredibly bad first cold email in which the sales rep lied about researching my website and then started pitching nearshore IT services I cannot use as a solo consultant.
I'll post the initial email first, then the followup as they are instructional
Subject: Why Change Selling Software Solutions
Hi Mark,
I genuinely took the time (this is a real message) to go through your company, (LIE) and I believe I could help your team fill some of the gaps in their product and software engineering teams. (I DO NOT DEVELOP SOFTWARE AND 10 SECONDS ON MY WEBSITE WOULD HAVE REVEALED THIS)
At?BairesDev, we specialize in nearshore software outsourcing services with the best 1% of Software Engineers in Latin America. Our engineers average over 10 years of hands-on experience, work in the same time zone, speak English fluently, and have advanced technical skills. This makes real-time communication more effective and ensures quick onboarding within less than 2 weeks. (DON'T WASTE ANY TIME, STRAIGHT INTO THE PITCH)
Stop Using irrelevant foreign social proof
We've helped companies facing similar business needs, development, and staffing?challenges to those of Concentrix, Abbott, and Keller Williams Realty?(HOW WOULD YOU KNOW? THEY ARE SIMILAR NEEDS AND THEY ARE USA BASED, I LIVE IN LONDON), and I think we can also make you more productive and cost-efficient. (AN AUDACIOUS CLAIM) If you let me, I’d love to (a) send you extraordinary candidates for the positions that need various technologies, and (b) try to help you with other roles. I promise you’re going to love our people. I’d be happy to give you a free trial or even a 1-year money-back guarantee - something nobody else in the world does. (THAT PRESUMABLY IS THEIR USP)
Would you be open to having a call? I won’t waste your time, and if you give me a chance, I won't disappoint you. I feel like I honestly can help you. (HARD TO CLAIM HONESTY WHEN YOUR EMAIL OPENS WITH AN OUTRIGHT LIE) When would it be a good time? I’m also in Europe/London right now. I won't be able to visit your office or meet close by any time soon, but if you prefer to meet in person, I will ask some of my colleagues to visit you (you’ll love them). NO THANKS

Hello Mark,
Just making sure my last note reached your inbox. I know things can get lost, and I wanted to get back on your radar. (IT DID, I SKIMMED IT AND IGNORED IT, AND I DONT WANT TO BE ON YOUR RADAR)

3 个月Really, genuinely well done for shaming BairesDev, Mark Gibson - but if we all did that to every company that facilitated every dodgy, poorly researched and ineptly executed cold email, I think we would crash LinkedIn's server farm, such is the level to which we are all being abused (and to which the art of marketing is being debased). And really, genuinely well done for suggesting an alternative and marginally less dodgy approach. Imagine how much money they could save by not offering a money-back guarantee!

3 个月... well sure, I only forgot to answer, because I don't get my priorities straight ?? and most of all I hate it when they have the cheek to add the button for booking an appointment. It's an annoying call to action that I find really presumptuous.?I really, really, feel you.. ??
