STOP BEING A WORKAHOLIC IN 2023: CLEANSE, DISCOVER, AND PURSUE WHAT SERVES YOU

STOP BEING A WORKAHOLIC IN 2023: CLEANSE, DISCOVER, AND PURSUE WHAT SERVES YOU

The final cup of tea in 2022 is dedicated to my ambitious BIPOC women of color who put their heads down for years focused on execution, collecting accolades, and striving to be perfect in an imperfect world. STOP and ask yourself whether you have balance, health, and peace.

In my 20's, I dedicated my life to being successful. I prided myself on being the quickest to answer the email, the first one at work, and the last to leave, the job title hustler. Money equated to success, and status equated to my happiness. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade my accomplishments for the world, but I wish that I had taken the time to provide balance in my life and not put so much weight on climbing the corporate ladder so fast. I've spent my life competing with my inner voice pushing me to be more and ultimately never be satisfied.

Being female, black, and ambitious is beautiful.

I have discovered that being female, black, and ambitious is beautiful, but I allowed the above identifications to define how hard I needed to work. This led to horrible anxiety, unsuccessful relationships, and ultimate burnout, and let me be clear; this catches up with you. This edition of the cup of tea newsletter is for my ambitious BIPOC women to learn from my journey. Balance, Peace, and Longevity are essential. You can have it all, but be practical and straightforward on what you seek and stop to smell the roses before you achieve a new goal.

The ambitious women's navigation tips

  1. Goals - Always outline your goals but ensure there is balance.
  2. Self-care - Make time for yourself. No one can run 100 mph 24/7, so don't do this to yourself. To go hard on a goal, you need proper recovery.
  3. Love - Make space to love yourself and love others. Winning and hitting your goals is fantastic, but it's even better when you have loved ones on the journey. It makes the wins 10X better. Be sure to nurture those relationships and hold on to them. You only need a few; you need the right connections.
  4. Grace - This thing we call life is a forever marathon, be kind to yourself. Failure is part of the game. You win some, you lose some, but I guarantee that if you provide yourself with grace, you can get to the successive win quicker and more potent.
  5. Celebration - What's the point of achieving if you don't take the time to celebrate? Look up sometimes, buy yourself a Don Perriogon or Ruinart, and celebrate with your day ones.

New year resolution: STOP BEING A WORKAHOLIC in 2023 and move with purpose

For BIPOC women who are ambitious, you will continue to break barriers, but do this with intention and let go of things and people who no longer serve you. As you outline your 2023 goals play Queen Erykah Badu . Figure out how to be the best version of yourself and impact the world and your environment. We are all a result of our environment.

  1. Cleanse: Make a list of the things, people, and environments that no longer serve you. LET IT GO, and never look back. You can only walk into your purpose if you're constantly looking forward.
  2. Discover: Make a new list of what makes you happy, what gives you energy, and what gives you excitement. Don't worry about the how. Instead, focus on having no limits and thoughtfully writing down your dreams and goals.
  3. Pursue: Reflect on the two lists above and start outlining your 2023 goals, timelines, and items you need to make this happen. Pursue, focus on the new goals, and get excited for the new year.

New Beginnings

After reading the above, you have everything you need to make 2023 your year. Focus on whom you want to be and go after it with good intentions, balance, and an open heart and mindset. You never know who will come into your life to help you reach your goals, and you never know when blessings will come your way, just be prepared.

Get excited for the new year. As always, if you are in search of a community of people who will support you, give you resources and uplift you, be sure to join the Unapologetech Circle Community .
