Stop Being an Arrogant Joker and Network Better

How many times have you attended a networking event and found a person to be arrogant and self centred?
What impression did that person leave you with? Did their personality want to make you run for the hills?
Ego, arrogance and being self centred (not showing any interest in anyone other than yourself) will certainly ensure you have a tough time when endeavouring to expand your professional circle.
Arrogance and being self centred certainly won't do you any favours, however and don't take this next part as contradictory, but it's ok to have a minimal sense of ego as long as you have earned it and most importantly are putting it to good use.
Having a smidgen of ego to accompany your personality is fine when it's used for good and not evil. Similar to Superman and Superwoman their egos allow them to believe in their powers enabling them to protect the human race against evil villains.
Now imagine that they used their powers for destruction and turned against us? OMG
Allowing yourself to believe in your own capabilities, removing that inner fear along with those voices that stop you from pushing yourself to unleash greater capabilities, unveils that inner confidence. You can then turn your confidence into a strength whenever you require it, just like a super hero.
Using your inner ego and confidence to assist others in a polite, respectful and trust worthy manner will not only increase your reputation (personal brand) but will generate an organic halo effect where others will seek you out for guidance, advice or to do business with you.
So next time before you head out maybe try leaving your arrogance and the evil side of your ego at home even if it's just a little bit, you might be surprised just how your day pans out.
